We wanted to eat some authentic PR food, so selected El Parilla based on reviews. It was PERFECT! The evening was beautiful, so we ate outside. Nothing fancy but that, in its own way, was charming. The owner was friendly and helpful. I wanted a PR dish but do not like fish, so he asked his wife about making mofongo with strip steak. It was SO GOOD! The steak was lightly spiced; the sauce (oil and garlic?) was delicious over the very, very good mofongo (and I can say this with knowledge, as I kept getting mofongo everywhere I went after this, and nothing was as good). My husband had another recommended fish dish, and he said it was very good, too. Oh, and we had mango margaritas as we waited. We'd had mango on our honeymoon (this was an anniversary trip), so this was a sentimental choice, but they were made freshly and were delicious.
