“Nice when we eventually got the room we booked”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

We booked a sea view room for five nights. When we arrived (very late) on our first night we were told there was an issue with the room and were moved to the Barbaros Apart Hotel in the centre of the resort (and not on the beach). To be fair this was a nice clean room, it just wasn't what we paid for in terms of location. We were told engineers were called in to fix the problem but the management refused to show us the room (we found from other guests at the hotel there had been an issue with someone else's booking where they had booked a sea view room but were not given one - and were eventually moved to one earlier on the day we arrived). When we eventually got to move into our room it was lovely - amazing view. But it wasn't the best start to our holiday and we met others who had booked and paid for sea view rooms but were told they were 'fully booked' when they were arrived and ended up staying in three different rooms during their stay. from other comments on here it looks like others may have had similar experiences. it wasn't the best start to our holiday and was stressful as every day we had to check with the management if our room was available for us. To be fair in the end they gave us a cash refund for the first two nights after I made a fuss- but be warned, it's happened to others and if they are busy you may well not end up with the room you booked.

I went to this hotel in September 2013 and really loved it. I knew it would be quite basic but very pretty pristine room and lived up to my expectations (the married couple who clean are brilliant) and had a sea view which is a must if you stay there, incredible view of the bay and listening to the sound of the sea when in bed was so lovely. Was welcomed by Mr T on arrival and all the staff there made us so welcome too. The breakfast is a simple Turkish breakfast and delicious, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, boiled eggs and alternate days omlettes and sometimes cake which was lovely even first thing in the morning. We were half board so had dinner there and mostly it was delicious.

It would be good if the sun beds and umbrellas could be renewed though, that is the only down comment I could make but super hotel and would definately come back there. Very worth while watching the sun rise at about 6am, great photos taken over the sea with the orange sky.

Room Tip: A sea view is a must

It hadnt ben an easy journey. My partner travelled with a migraine and when we arrived at the Barbaros at midnight it was in darkness and there were no staff around. Neither was there a note, a phone number or any kind of acknowledgement that we were expected. After a few minutes, I pushed my way into the office behing receoption and found a piece of paper on the desk that said "Your room is 25, key on room" No name. Was it for me, or just a piece of paper from weeks ago? We tentatively knocked on room 25 and a sleepy, angry Turkish man was all the proof we needed that this was not our room!! Errr... sorry!
I went to the hotel next door and woke the manager and was offerd a room for the night for £100 - but we were desperate so I accepted. Coming back to the Barbaros to collect my partner, we had a final brainstorm and located a solitary key in the cubby holes behind reception. Room 24. It was probably someone's room who was just out late, but I took it and tried the door and lo and behold, feasted my eyes on a welcoming, vacant room . Very relieved, we moved all our stuff in and off I went to apologise profusely to the owner of the hotel next door. Two grovelling apologies within an hour!!

We stayed for eight days and had a truly wonderful time. I would go to thiss hotel again without hesitation. The hotel was great value (less that £40 a night including breakfast in high season) and the view from the room and all the other superlatives written by other reviewers, regarding position were true. Very clean, nice bathroom, freindly room service and the the two guys who ran the breakfast and bar were worked off their feet and provided a good service ..... but no sign of any mangement, anywhere. We weren't checked in. We weren't checked out. No one representing the hotel spoke to us all the time we were there. It was very strange!

So whoever owns and manages this hotel, PLEASE sort out a system for people arriving after 11 pm. Either pay someone a small fee to be on duty through the night to welcome tired guests or create a foolproof system of putting the door key in an envelope on reception, with the guest's name on it!! It must cause you so much hassle having tired and angry guests (and their holiday reps) chasing you up in the middle of the night or haranguing your blameless staff in the morning.

My other suggestion would be to pay a bit of attention to the beach. You need a new set of sun loungers and a system fro picking up litter and tidying the beach at the end of the day, to match the standards of the hotels on either side. It's so simple and would make a big difference.

So, in summary, we had a wonderful holiday. Third time in Turunc and certainly not the last. It really is paradise and highly recommended. It would be great to see an end to Barbaros reviews from people who's holidays have got off on a bad footing because of the lack of arrivals proceedures. Please sort it out! You could easlily be among the top few places to stay in Turunc.

Room Tip: Go for room at the front. Sea and beach view is stunning.

We stayed at this lovely hotel between 12 July to 19 July 2013. This was are first visit to this hotel and we were very pleasantly surprised. Rooms very clean and service was very good. Location was peaceful and quite with fantastic views. Mr T and staff could not have been more helpful nothing was too much trouble for them. Traditional Turkish breakfast was delicious. We would definitely stay here again. Looking forward to booking for 2014. Angela,Gilly and Helen from Exeter.

Came to Turunc on our first visit and on advice of a friend and the reviews booked into Barbaros Beach for a delayed honeymoon. What a mistake! Arrived in early hours to be greeted with the phone and message to ring (as per other reviews from other late arrivals). Rang the number, again and again, at least 6 times in total and twice even got rung back. Advised them that we were waiting in reception but no one turned up, apart from some worse for wear Turkish residents. In the end we rang our booking agent in UK who also tried to ring with her supervisor, without success. Finally 3.5 hours later when the guy turned up to do breakfast we grabbed him and finally got a room. The whole situation was completely avoidable as all that was needed was an envelope addressed to us with room number indicated and we could have taken the keys and gone to bed. It was a farce which has completely overshadowed our holiday, not least because to this day we still do not know who the management of the hotel is and have never seen any activity around the office of reception area. We've had no apology and were accused, when the agents pinned someone down, of not having seen the phone!! We weren't the only ones this happened to as a couple the next day almost booked a room in a neighbouring hotel in order to get a bed for the night! In order to salvage our holiday we have now booked alternative accommodation for our 2nd week (at additional cost to ourselves, of course)! To be fair to the staff that were there, they were in the main amiable, but didn't speak much English and there just wasn't the warm hospitality you usually get in Turkey. In the end we felt sorry for them as it felt like they had been left holding the hotel together for the indifferent management.

However, if you want to go somewhere to be ignored, the rooms are very clean but sparsely furnished with only one socket (which was miles away from the provided lamp)! Sunbeds on beach are in very poor condition and pool and bar area completely lacking in atmosphere. Breakfast is Turkish and very limited but OK. Not surprisingly we won't be back.

My wife and I booked to stay at the Barbaros beach hotel for 4 weeks in June 2013. We arrived early morning and shown to our room and was pleasantly surprised . In the morning when we went on the balcony the view was stunning. The room was basic but very modern and clean, the hotel was very nice and only a stone throw from the beach. Due to my wife sustaining a broken ankle 6 weeks before the holiday and been unable to walk any distance sadly we had to ask if we could be transferred to the Barbaros Apart hotel which was more central, the staff were more than helpful in assisting us to transfer. What a pleasant surprise we got when we arrived, Boscut his wife and staff could not have been more helpful. The apartment was very spacious with a very large balcony and a large clean pool. We would like to thank the staff at the Barbaros Beach and the Barbaros Apart Hotel for all the help they gave to make our holiday one to remember and hope to return next year. Gary and Brenda

I stayed at this hotel from July 11th to July 25th and have no complaints whatsoever. The bedrooms were cleaned daily, and I found all the staff very friendly and helpful. The location of this hotel is perfect, situated at the far end of the resort, it's very peaceful and relaxing, yet only a short walk away from all the restaurants and bars. Breakfast is very basic, eggs, salad, and sometimes cold meat, but to be honest, I found that enough. The bedrooms were very basic but of a good size, and everything worked in them, the shower was very good and most mornings the water was still hot. I will definitely go back to this hotel. If your looking for a peaceful relaxing holiday then this hotel is for you.
