Owner description: Provence tours as you wish from Avignon, Arles, Aix en Provence and Marseille. Provence offers a big diversity of tourist sights, an old history, culture and traditions. We would be very happy to show you Provence and to take you to nice places and areas we just love by taking remote routes aboard a comfortable and air-conditionned minibus. We do pick up from your hotel in Avignon, Aix en Provence, Arles... or from your cruise ship in the port of Marseille.

Alain was the best tour guide my wife and I ever had. We spent 4 very wonderful days with Alain touring all of Provence. We enjoyed wine tasting, great locally prepared meals, sightseeing all the right places. We also enjoyed his conversation as he was so versed in so much about the history, and culture, and was able to tie it all together. We learned a great deal from him about Provence, France, and Europe. And he was extremely flexible. Heck, he even negotiated the price and sale. of a painting with a local artist. If you want to have a great experience while in Provence, he is your guide!!!!!

I came across Alain's website (www.ventoux-decouvertes.com) when someone recommended him in a review of another tour company. Alain's site is not only beautiful, but also has a lot more flexibility and choices. We booked Alain for a full day "Best of Provence" tour. We wanted to swap out a location on the set tour for one that he didn't list, and he was very accommodating and worked with us to create the perfect day. We do not speak fluent French and didn't want to go through the aggravation of renting a car and navigating ourselves around the countryside. Alain knows ALL the short cuts and you will cover in one day, what it would take to cover in 3 days on your own in your rental car... provided you could navigate correctly and find all the little hidden places we went that weren't on our map of 'must see' destinations. We did our tour at the end of May, and even though the lavender was not yet in bloom, we had a beautiful field of red poppies all to ourselves at St. Paul asylum in St. Remy where Van Gogh spent a year.

It was a warm day, but Alain had a air-conditioned van that is very clean and well maintained. He speaks very good english and had a great sense of humor. Having traveled extensively both in the U.S. and the rest of the world, he is a font on knowledge and fun to swap travel stories with.

Alain took us to one of his favorite villages hidden away in the hills of Provence for an very tasty lunch, arriving just in time to take advantage of that town's market day. Alain also gave us some fantastic recommendations for different rosés from Provence and the Languedoc-Roussillon which easily beat any U.S. rosé I've ever tasted.

It was a very enjoyable day. My wife and I are very active travelers and for this tour wanted to get in as much as we could see in the allotted time. If you wish to take your time in these little towns, you might consider reducing the amount of destinations on some of the tours. Distances and travel time in the hill town area's of Provence can be deceiving. Overall, I would recommend Alain to anyone who wants a knowledgeable local guide who is focused on providing a high quality service and truly enjoys what he does. It was a very reasonable price for the great adventure we had with Alain to the many beautiful places that Provence has to offer.

In May 2012 my mother and I took a 5 day tour with Alain in through Provence. It was the most wonderful week and Alain made the trip so special for us. Having been in Europe a few times before this was by far the most relaxed trip and we could go home well rested despite seeing all the sites. Alain was very flexible, informative, entertaining and helpful. In my oppinion there is no ther way of seeing Provence! 10/10 Alain and thank you VERY much!!!

I stumbled upon Alain Lesomptier's attractive website and was impressed with the way his tours were outlined, and was even more encouraged by the many positive reviews and testimonials. I contacted Alain and custom-tailored a 5-day tour of Provence, basing ourselves in Avignon from April 3-8, 2012. It was easily the highlight of our 18 day visit to France! Alain is very pleasant, very accommodating, and quite knowledgeable about the sights. He speaks very, very good English and is eager to please his guests. He's an excellent and safe driver. Our itinerary was based on the special sights we wanted to see and experience, and Alain was savvy enough to make very good suggestions on places to visit and restaurants to try, making changes along the way in response to inclement weather. We traveled as a family with kids aged 10, 12, and 18 and we all had a great time. He taught us how to play boules! It was fun driving around with Alain; he has a terrific sense of humor and can talk about anything under the sun. At the end of our tour of Provence we felt we had gained a friend. Ventoux Decouvertes is highly recommended!

Alain Lesomptier was our guide for four days to see the wonderful sights of Provence. He picked us up each day in our hotel in Avignon, and each day's itinerary included about 3 stops at "must see" sites. Alain was unfailingly cheerful, helpful and knowledgable. He was flexible in terms of our requests, and always congenial. I don't think you could have a better guide.
