Great bistro style restaurant.....joined large group of mature classmates, and staff did not bat an eye when we all arrived. They put some tables together and we were made very welcome.
The coffee's were great, especially the one with softly melting marshmallows on top!.
Excellent staff and lovely welcoming ambiance.
We'll definitely be going back.

“Xparty 2013”
Reviewed December 11, 2013

I too was there the evening of 6th and was stunned by both the professionalism and speed of all the staff. The food was great, and the atmosphere electric ... A truly magical night in every sense; oozing with the spirit of Christmas.
Im a regular at the Departure Lounge and happen to know many of the staff n customers. I take exception to a comment made on here with regards to a party sitting at some sofas and eating from coffee tables. I happen to know these people personally, and it was at their request to sit there and have a finger buffet, They all passed comment on how happy they were with the evening, the quality of the food, the entertainment and more to the point .... WHERE THEY WERE SAT!
It in furaiates me that people can use this site to make False and slanderous accusations about a business, not fully understanding the effect it could have on trade. Perhaps in fairness and the spiit of goodwill. it is more respectful to discuss a problem as soon as it arises, calm, politely and in an adult fashion instead of feverishly ranting away on a review site with no foundation or evidence to back up a complaint.
I would strongly encourage people to visit the departure lounge themselves and make up their own opinion. This is a place with heart and has been decorated beautify. I personally love it here, feel safe and comfortable and enjoy the company of the clientèle it attracts. This is by far not your run-of-the-mill, wine bar, bistro, pub .....
Its an establishment which would not look out of place in the centre of Liverpool or Chester and should be applauded for its efforts.

“Xmas Party 2013”
Reviewed December 8, 2013

Lynne and all her staff should be congratulated on their service, food and hospitality on an extremely busy Xmas party evening! We were a party of 19 and I believe she had 90 guests for the evening but you wouldn't have known, it was outstanding. All the food was served hot and nothing was any trouble, extra veg, gravy, coffees. Well done! I will definitely recommend you next year for Abergele Theatre Group. Thanks again!!

“Burnt Xmas Dinner!!!!!”
Reviewed December 7, 2013 via mobile

I will never go to the Departure Lounge Again!

Party of 15 of us booked for a pre Xmas meal, only 13 of us could make it so on entering we advised the owner who told us "you will have to pay for the 2 who couldn't make it"... we all paid 50% deposit, surely that's what we should have lost?

We sat down at our table and noticed we were really crammed in, then we noticed there was only place settings for 14??? If 15 of us had turned up, one of us would have had to stand at the bar to eat! (they even had people eating sitting on a couch at a coffee table!!)

Starters were ok except for the stale bread

Desserts were nice

However, the MAIN COURSE was reminiscent of your turkey meal back in high school, it was minging, All of our party agreed that there was a distinctive "burnt" taste to half of our meals, strange because just one end of the tables food tasted this way.... The end with the gravy boat!!! They had burnt the gravy, we never made a fuss as nobody was on hand to tell, when they collected the left overs we mentioned it and the ownew came over, she said "no, there's nothing wrong with that"
She made her decision and that was that!!!

If I wasn't with friends at a Xmas party I would have walked out there and then...

My advice..... Put Tony from the kitchen in charge because you can't run a piss up in a brewery, you managed to piss off an entire party because of your attitude and lack of customer service skills.
