We arrived in fog and snow, to the lighted windows and warmth of Priestley Cottage. So many welcoming touches - tea, coffee, milk, gorgeous homemade lemon drizzle cake and brownies, a gift of sparkling wine to celebrate my birthday, and so on......The cottage was perfect, with everything thought of and we really appreciated the 'Laundry' which also contained a fridge, freezer and shelves of food and extras (we'd forgotten our toothbrushes). We thoroughly recommend Deborah's homemade fish pie and granola. Deborah and Martin are so welcoming and go out of their way to give guests (and their dogs) a really relaxing break. When the fog lifted we could hardly believe we were in such a beautiful setting. We could spend a week easily walking and taking the bus without having to use our car. We intend to try this on our next visit.

Beautifully done cottages. Comfy. Clean. Hot. I've never seen such attention to detail. Most places don't even have a teapot these days let alone a tea cosy. It became a challenge looking for something they hadn't thought of. Heaps of crockery and cutlery. Another vast collection in the Long room made it possible for 19 of us to sit down to civilised dining together with table cloths, the lot! Ideal for a group to have a few cottages together.
Even toiletries were provided. You could pretty much turn up in the clothes you stood up in , just with a toothbrush, and eat in local pubs or buy home bread bread and homecooked meals from their larder. They'll lend out backpacks, walking sticks, dog blankets.......
Many visitors seem to be returning and that says it all. We'll be back

This was our third stay and hopefully not our last. We were with a group of 15 30-somethings and a couple of kids and it was perfect for everyone. Lovely cottages, great games room and great little touches. Fantastic location for walking too. We'll be back!

I visited Wheeldon Trees Farm the weekend starting 24th Jan 14' just for a 2 night short break. All's i can do is sing the praises the cottage in which I stayed was the Ollenshaw cottage. Very clean, very well epuipt nothing you will need that isn't already there. The location is beautiful, you are surrounded by picturesque countryside. The only thing that let us down was the British weather, kept us inside for the 2days but the cottage was so pleasant we didn't mind just cosyied up with DVDs. Will definitely be booking to visit again.

Because friends of ours had recommended Wheeldon Trees, we were expecting something exceptionally good, but actually nothing could have made it better. Nigel and Karen (who look after the properties whilst the Martin and Deborah are away) were wonderful: friendly, welcoming, informative but not intrusive. "Our" cottage (in the old milking shed) was well-designed and perfectly equipped with a fuller range of cooking utensils than I have seen in any self-catering property. The extra little touches were just the icing on the cake: soothing music playing when you open your own front door for the first time, homemade cakes and biscuits on arrival, a little "shop" with a stock of home made soups, main meals and puddings alongside other local produce and basics. The eco-friendliness at Wheeldon Trees is a joy, as are the walks and its proximity to Bakewell and Buxton. Fab-u-lous.

We had a wonderful week here. The facilities are extraordinary, there is literally everything you need; there's even a storeroom for dog blankets, bowls and toys. Beautiful location, wonderfully and tastefully decorated house with underfloor heating. The house was spotless, immaculately decorated and full of everything you need including high bid vests and a head torch! The walking maps were perfect (most included a great pub), the games room fabulous and the house snug and cosy. Best though, were the electric bikes and the well-designed bike routes. This is a wonderful place with great hosts and we will certainly be back next year.

We were looking for a cozy hideaway for over the holidays- to escape the city. From the moment we arrived, we were charmed and felt we had been so lucky to have chosen Wheeldon Trees as our base to explore the Peak District. Our cottage was very well appointed- warm and welcoming, and all of the extra holiday touches made it an immediate home away from home. The breakfast basket was a treasure and a great introduction to local foods and producers. The cottage information packets are fantastic and my husband and our dog did all of the 10 "from the doorstep" walks the owners have compiled. Very dog friendly- Poppy was able to accompany us to all of our delicious local pub meals, and even on a cavern tour. A great base - we enjoyed great days out on Mam Tor and Kinder Scout- both an easy drive away. Can't wait to return!

Room Tip: I don't think there is a poor location in the whole property. All are super well insulated, ver...
