My husband and I wanted a weekend to get away from it all, noisy neighbours, work, etc and Wheeldon Trees Farm was definitely the answer!
We only went for a weekend (one night) away with our 11 month old daughter, but we were still very well looked after. The location and views are perfect to get away from stressfull city life. The cottage (Critchlow) was nice and cosy, with everything we needed and the underfloor heating was bliss, especially as our little one was crawling everywhere.
Since we only stayed for one night we did not use many of the facilities available on the farm, so cannot comment on everything. Our daghter loved the space and the toys in the long room.
Whilst we did not go for any walks I still had a look at the laminated maps in the cottage and if we were staying longer we would definitely have gone on a few of those walks, I really liked that.
The view from the backdoor of our cottage was amazing and it was nice to just stand by the door with our daughter and watch the horses running by and people hiking up to the top of High Wheeldon.
We got exactly what we came for, peace and quiet and a lovely relaxing time. We will go back for a whole week next time.

I had looked at Wheeldon Trees several times and had decided that it was too far from my sons home in Macclesfield, how wrong I was and how glad I am that we chose to book and stay for a long weekend. The cottage was immaculate and has absolutely every comfort you could ever ever wish for. The fact that we could bring our two labradors and have our family over to stay was a huge plus. Deborah & Martin were the most welcoming of hosts and the breakfast basket was second to none! Even the snow that came with a flourish could not spoil the weekend. Our dogs loved the secure field to play in and we came away from the weekend feeling very relaxed. We are looking to book again very soon.

On a gloomy January Monday I decided Other Half needed a break. The catch came in the shape of two dogs and a freelance job which needed me to be using the internet. One online search, instant booking, and 24 hours later we were installed at Wheeldon Trees - what a find! Excellent wifi for me to be getting on with the day job, while Himself tramped the hills in the timely sunshine all day, and pored over the generously-provided OS maps all evening. The excellent home-made 'ready-meals' on-site meant we didn't even need to investigate the recommended local eateries. My only problem was trying to answer the question, "How could we make things better?" And, now, deciding just how soon we should return.

Beautifully designed cottages with full attention to detail, and in a glorious setting, with friendly owners, Wheeldon Trees is a small slice of heaven. It was my second visit with my two daughters and wife and once again, we had a fabulous time. The facilities offer plenty to do if the weather is dire, and if the weather is good, then the walking and cycling possibilities are endless, not to mention good accessibility to Bakewell and Buxton. The cottages were extremely well presented and the underfloor heating is a treat!

Room Tip: I've stayed twice in the priestly cottage - the double bed is absolutely enormous and very very...

We returned to Wheeldon Trees for the 2nd time for our bi-annual extended family Christmas celebrations wondering whether the lack of 2010's magical snow experiences would make it all a little less wonderful. It didn't!
The warmth of welcome from Martin and Deborah matched the warmth of the cottages themselves (which is luxurious) and we had a truly happy Christmas. Everything about Wheeldon Trees is simply top-notch and it has become a much-loved place in our family's hearts - all 15 of them, plus the dog... We will be back!

Many of our friends who own dogs recommend Wheeldon Tree Farm as a good quality self catering holiday home, where dogs are made very welcome. We stayed in the Oldershaw Cottage, which had plenty of room for two plus a dog. Martin and Deborah made us very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was well equipped and furnished to a very high standard. This will definitely not be out last visit - and would take no hesitation in recommending to anyone. My stay also made me more aware of the small changes I could make to live a greener lifestyle. Thank you Martin and Deborah for a great time.

Our third trip to Wheeldon Trees farm in the Peak district. The cottages are all unique and very comfortable. Deborah and Martin are great hosts and will provide suggestions on cottage selection, dining options (including great options from their freezer), walks and travel to/from Wheeldon Trees. Highly recommended....
