“A great escape!”

Beautiful and peaceful location. Cosy, well equipped cottage with everything we needed. Owners on site - very helpful and friendly. Our stay resulted in a perfect 'chilled out' holiday

“Comfortable & well equipped cottage in tranquil location with stunning views.”
Reviewed July 8, 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We stayed for two weeks in The Old Byre, the smallest of the cottages. It is well-appointed & comfortable, & the view from the front windows is wonderful: green, calm hills beneath an ever-changing sky. Chris & Liz are excellent hosts: we were listened to kindly & helped patiently. Set close to the Manifold Way - formerly the track of the (sadly defunct) Leek & Manifold Valley Light Railway - & not far from Dovedale & the Tissington Trail, the cottage is an ideal starting point for glorious walks; despite occasionally challenging weather (this is England, our England after all) we were able to walk, relax &/or visit beautiful gardens every day. We enjoyed the retail therapy in Leek, Buxton, Ashbourne & Bakewell, too, as well as pubs & cafés in the local villages (Hartington, Alstonefield, Hulme End especially). We were disappointed only once, when a recommended restaurant did not live up to its billing - it might well have been a one-off bad day. Overall, we had a most enjoyable holiday, & we are looking forward to arranging another stay.

Greeted on arrival by the owners who showed us round the cottages and explained clearly how to use the facilities. The cottages are situated in the country and following the directions provided by the owners is essential. The surroundings are lovely best seen in good weather. Help and advice about the local places of interest was provided by the owners.

“Peace and quality in the Peaks”
Reviewed June 24, 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We have just enjoyed the most perfect holiday, high quality accommodation in the most peaceful and attractive of settings. The owners have thought of everything to make this a memorable stay. A selection of bikes are on hand that can be used at anytime to ride the nearby Manifold cycle way or choose any of the many walks from the door.

“A fantastic place to stay.....”
Reviewed June 24, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We have been to Swainsley Farm many times over the last ten years and have never once been disappointed. The accommodation is very comfortable and of a very high standard. The countryside is amazing with excellent walking and bike rides along the Manifold Valley. Chris and Liz Snook who live at and run Swainsley Farm are very friendly and always willing to help.
Swainsley Farm would suit anyone who wants some beautiful countryside and fresh air. Highly recommended!

“Comfortable cottage, superb views and Chris and Liz always on hand if needed.Perfect holiday location !”
Reviewed June 24, 2014 for a stay in June 2014

This location was an amazing find. Clean, modern cottage with a very well equipped kitchen, which included a big fridge! Great for storing a weeks shopping which we bought at a supermarket in Leek, en route.
Very quiet location with stunning views and plenty of places to walk or cycle around.
Chris and Liz, the owners, were on hand should we need anything. Very reassuring.
Outside space, overlooking the valley, was well equipped with comfortable furniture, ideal for watching the buzzards. Advise you bring your binoculars!
Three of us stayed in The Coach House,( one of the others booked this) and though the other two cottages had guests, at no time did we feel this was an intrusion.
Though we came to visit Chatsworth House, and the area generally, we found that we were comfortable staying at home just enjoying the peace, and unwinding, more than we had planned.
This is a really lovely place, and Chris and Liz have put a lot of effort into ensuring their guests feel welcome and at home. Many thanks.
