We stayed at the Manifold Inn prior to a day at Alton Towers, after booking over the phone 24hours previously we were in the Blacksmiths accommodation across for the main pub, this was fine as we had been informed by the lady on the phone the pub would be closed between 3pm-5.30pm and our room key would be left in the door wich was great for us as were not entirely sure of our arrival time. The room was clean and tidy with plenty of hot water and option to have the central heating on or not, perfect for a long or short stay. The pub itself is a lovely traditional country inn with a good selection of wines and beers and a welcoming atmosphere, we had our evening meal in the bar area and the food was excellent the best pub steak and ale pie I've ever had and served with real chips!! there is a restraunt but this was not open probabally due to it been a Tuesday night and also a nice conservatory area out the back ( I'm not sure if guests staying at the pub are reserved a table for dining). Breakfast is in the conservatory and the food again was good especially when setting us up for a day at alton towers, the only problem we had was the breakfast service was very slow and this was due to a member of staff not turning up for work and a group of 8people who all arrived for breakfast at different times but pushed in front of the other guests waiting for breakfast. All in all it is a lovely place to stay and it only took us 25minutes to get to alton towers.

We Stayed At The Manifold Whilst Visiting Alton Towers, And The Hotel Was In A Good Location For Alton Towers, But The Only Pub For Miles Was, Well, The Manifold. The Hotel Was Dissappointing For Having So Many Good Reviews. We Were In The Main Inn, The Rooms That Are Clearly Not Displayed On The Website. The Pub Was Reasonably Nice, But Still, Doesn't Make The Hotel A Must Do In The Derbyshire Catergory. The Toilet Was Loud And The Shower Had Grime In The Corners. There Was A Pair Of Leftover Pop Socks In The Drawer. TV Channels Didn't Work, Bed Was Hard. Staff Were Helpful Though.

We are naturally dissappointed that your stay was not enjoyable. We have spend over 80k on refurbishing the hotel and rooms with the exception of the two rooms within the inn. These remaining rooms are programmed to be upgraded in the quieter winter months and are reduced in price accordingly. However, the rooms are still very presentable and have in fact achieved 4 stars - but any critisim is taken seriously and will be actioned.
It is regrettable when a customer does not make any shortfalls obvious during their stay as it does not give the staff the chance to give reason or recompense.
You will see that there is a high percentage of great reviews for The Manifold Inn and we are elevated in the Trip Advisor ratings.

We stayed for three nights and had a great stay. the hotel staff was friendly and hard-working, the pub/restaurant quaint, surrounded by pictoresque farmlands, pastures and rivers (streams). rooms were nice.

we ended up staying in wheelchair accessible rooms: really nice if you need those ammenities. the rooms were well furnished and clean.

Don't hold breath waiting for food. Waited 3/4 hour for starter on evening of visit followed by further 1/2 hour for main course. Too tired for dessert! Booked 2 rooms 10 weeks prior to arrival. They rebooked 1 room...luckily (we thought) they had a cancellation. Rooms were dusty (message left in dust for cleaner) and both bathrooms were damp and smelly. As long as you close your eyes, you'll be fine! Breakfast was a joke, waited for 1/2 hour before they took order to then get 2:4 meals after 20 minutes and waited a further 10 minutes for the last 2. Take your own sugar....spoons in sugar bowls have been in there forever and more lumps than granuals. Fantastic location, pity about the quality, presentation and cleanliness.
