We have just had a most enjoyable family holiday. The cottage is beautifully clean with superior quality appliances to make self catering easy. I have stayed in many cottages in the UK and this is the best equipped by far. The owners Lesley and Fred are welcoming without being intrusive and the village location is spot on. The beds are really comfortable and the underfloor heating in the kitchen and bathroom are very welcome on cold mornings. Grandson George was particularly impressed by the chip van on Friday night in the village square!
We booked this lovely Cottage for our Christmas holiday. We thought it was perfect for our needs, the open fire was warming. The kitchen was well thought through with utensils and crockery etc. The bedrooms were warm and comfortable and the views and walks were amazing.
We had our Christmas dinner in the Charles Cotton which is a 3 minute walk away as well as eating in the Devonshire arms. All locals are amazingly friendly as is the owner, who was attentive and helpful at all times. I would highly recommended this lovely cottage to families for any break. We had an amazing Christmas, thank you Lesley!
This is a great place to stay.
Very much home from home, Fred and Lesley are welcoming and on hand if needed.
The cottage is comfortable, warm and has everything you need including WiFi, freeview and off-road parking (which is tight to get into!)
The only downside is the bathroom is on the ground floor, and the stairs are steep so those with mobility issues and/or bladder issues may struggle.
Defiantly recommend this cottage
Hartington is a great base to explore the Peak District. Lovely walks on the doorstep or a short drive away. The Devonshire Arms and Charles cotton are good places to eat and drink. There are a couple of shops for supplies, not forgetting the cheese shop. Beech cottage was warm, cosy and lovely and clean. The facilities were excellent. The tea, coffee, milk and water were a nice touch. Hope to visit again. Thank you Lesley and Fred
The village is charming and centrally located for exploring Buxton, Bakewell, Matlock and the southern part of the Peak District. The locals are friendly and welcoming (I enjoyed an evening playing badminton in the church hall next door after a chance encounter with one of the locals in the street outside).
The owners seem to have thought of everything including tea and biscuits on arrival! It was clean and well kept and and provided everything we needed for our week long stay. I would definitely have no hesitation in booking there again.
We stayed a week with 2 children. The house is in the centre of the village, so close to shops, pubs and restaurants.
The owners are very welcoming and helpful.
A few very nice walks start nearby, so ideally situated.
