The bar area was comfortable and the service behind the bar very polite and friendly. Good menu but disappointingly small portions - a chicken and bacon salad with croutons and garlic mayo arrived without the croutons which really were a necessary part of the meal given that for £8.75 there were four or five thin and narrow slices of chicken breast, some leaves and a few pieces of bacon. It was tasty but definitely a starter portion! Ditto the hot smoked salmon salad. In contrast, the fish and chips meals were generous and good. While we were there, another group complained about the very slow service and asked that their desserts were cancelled and the price of the set menu be reduced accordingly. The reduction wasn't in keeping with the amount that we were charged to have a single dessert from that menu - a steep £5.95. All in all, really disappointing - and mainly on the score of overpricing. Felt short-changed which was a pity as the food itself was more than fine.
