We went here for my partners birthday. 10 in total of which we were all seated on a lovely round table in the beautiful dining room. We were booked in for 8.30 and arrived at 8.10. We were prepared to have a drink at the bar, but our table was ready for us and we were asked if we would like to take our table early and they would serve us from the dining room to save waiting at the bar. I have to say that the service was excellent. The restaurant was fully booked and in fact i think we were the last table to be seated. As we had booked the table in advance, they did ask if we would like to pre order our food in before the day to ensure that we did not wait on the night. We decided we did not want to do this and actually we were in no rush and don't mind taking our time when dining out. They accepted this and advised that as they were fully booked that there could be a little longer waiting time than normal. However our orders were taken in a timely manner and given that we mixed and matched from both the restaurant and bar menu we were served with no wait at all. The food was fantastic, presented so creatively and the service was even better. Our food for all 10 of us arrived at the same time and our glasses were never empty, we did not have to ask for a thing so thank you everyone at the cotton for making this such a special evening. My partner and i will certainly be going back and amazingly my son said he had the best ever homemade burger. It really was a fantastic evening and a great place for a special occasion. We wandered into the bar after and had a dance as they had a live singer on. I don't recall what time it was when we left, only that i think we were the last ones to go.

We visited this hotel after visiting the Devonshire at lunch, and we were very disappointed.

The food took an hour to come and we had to ask for the table to be cleaned of the previous customers spilt gravy and apple sauce. We finished our tiny portions and over cooked food, and asked for the bill. After 20 minutes, the bill came and we paid it, and left to the Devonshire for a more friendly atmosphere whilst catching up over a few beers.

After last call at devonshire, we wanted one more pint, so went back to cotton. We were then abruptly told, by who i assume to be the landlady, that we hadn't paid for a round of drinks that were left off our bill. This was fair enough, but she made the mistake and made out like we had underpaid, rather rudely turning to the lady behind the till, 'these are the ones that underpaid'. No, we were the ones that were under billed.

We paid for what we owed, and made it clear that we would not be coming back. Strongly advise against this pub, poor food, massively overpriced and terrible service, especially the landlady. If you want a lot better food, great service at half the price, there is a great pub 5 mins drive up the road.

We have just returned from a stay of two nights along with our dogs at this hotel.I would like to say that the staff were very helpful and friendly. We ate in the restuarant on the Sunday evening and the sunday lunch, roast beef was super my partner had the lamb shank which was just as good, cost £15 each including a starter, pigeon breast also delicious.
We were a bit shocked to see that the next night the prices ranged from £15 upwards for just a main meal as bar snacks could not be ordered after 7pm.After a days walking we couldnt be back in time so ate elsewhere....perhaps they could extent the bar snack menu till later in the evening as people do not want to be paying £50 for two people for two courses excluding drinks makes the holiday just a bit too expensive. However we had a delightful stay and would def go back there again...recommend the sunday dinners best we have for a long time.Thank you

Not the cheapest place to eat, but the choice of food on the menu and the quality of what we had could not be faulted. The service was excellent.

I'd only advise to go here if you have a lot of time to spare. And are happy to correct them on order.
