We have just returned from one of the nicest breaks we have had for a long time. Mainly due to our lovely host Jane who goes out of her way to ensure everything is 'spot on'.
We stayed in the room named 'Hayloft' which was an upper floor room with ample space for rucksacks, boots etc, and a fabulous comfy bed. It was a nice touch to have freshly made welsh cakes waiting for us in our room too.
Jane also does a great breakfast and there was a different accompaniment treat each morning, from hash browns, locally made oatcakes and on the last morning a potato cake, delicious!
During our stay we had a couple of evening meals at the Devonshire Arms which we can highly recommend. Their lamb shank was very tasty, so too was the salmon, steak ale & mushroom pie and also the cod fishcakes.
We did a couple of lovely walks while we were staying.....Tissington Trail and Carsington Water, but you are spoilt for choice of places to see....Cromford and the canal is also a lovely place.
A big thanks to Jane, what a lovely lady, for all your information and giving us an insight to farmlife. Where Jane gets all her energy from we do not know.
We cannot recommend this accommodation highly enough and you have to stay here to enjoy the experience. Thanks again Jane and see you soon.
Diane & Chris xx

Room Tip: Hayloft was a lovely room on the upper floor, but all rooms are of a good quality.

Thank you Diane and Chris for taking the time to write a super review. I am so glad you both enjoyed your selves and that The Hayloft and Devonshire Arms food, were delicious. I was particulary pleased you photographed our new village trail, a credit to our local school. Hope to see you both in the future.

We have just returned from a four-night stay at the Hayloft, and would definitely recommend it. Our room had everything we needed with the big bonus of one of the best showers we have come across. Jane made us feel very welcome and her friendly advice on the best places to eat and drink proved invaluable. The breakfasts were a treat! The Hayloft is right at the centre of this pretty village, with lovely scenery all around and some wonderful walks right on the doorstep.

Stayed with friends for a long weekend at beginning of May in this very smart B & B.
Jane, our host, is a lovely welcoming and friendly person.
Nice breakfast and very pleasant room in an unusual converted farm building.
Enjoyed the fact that B & B is part of a working farm.
Two minute walk to the village which is a great base. Devonshire Arms is a very nice pub serving good food.
Sorry the review is a bit late Jane - you are a star!

We had a super stay here, in this beautifully converted building. The Stable Room was a good size with all the facilities we needed, including scones on our first day. Jane was friendly and welcoming and full of information about the area, which helped us plan our days. The breakfasts are a real treat - with plenty of choice and use of local products. There is just a short walk to the pretty village centre and the Devonshire Arms, which we also thoroughly recommend, for food and drink. The countryside is, of course, stunning and the Hayloft is ideally placed for walking and sightseeing. We certainly hope to return.

The B&B is a working farm and situated in a lovely village with restaurants at the local pub and hotel (5 mins stroll) and fabulous walking on the Tissington Trail and High Peak Trail. From the welcome we received on arrival from Jane, the owner, to our day of departure, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was very good with lots of variety where Jane was ably assisted by Rachel who made us feel very much at home. We stayed in 'The Shepherd's Rest', a room that was comfortable, very clean with views of the village.
Being a working farm and in the lambing season, Jane had felt it necessary to advise us in advance that there could be some activity on the farm. Well all I can say is that although they did work through the night delivering lambs we never heard any noise. What we did have in the morning, however, was the opportunity to see lambs that had just been born and that was very special.
We booked this B&B because we wanted somewhere a little off 'the beaten track' but in a nice village, where we would be looked after and this was perfect. We plan to return later in the year but alas there will not be any lambs in November.

Room Tip: I can recommend The Shepherd's Rest
