“Perfect place to stay in an excellent location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2011

I was very impressed with Hayloft, the bedrooms were really spacious and the location in very easy reach of everything in the village. I stayed in a double room for 2 nights with my husband but also saw all the other rooms which my friends were staying in, all rooms were nicely decorated, spacious and had an ensuite with a big shower cubicle. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and cooked a gorgeous breakfast both mornings. I have already recommended this B&B to lots of people and will certainly be returning!

I stayed with my Husband and our friends took the other rooms as we were visiting Hartington for a wedding at the Charles Cotton Hotel. The Hayloft was a lovely B&B, all rooms had en-suite and were tastefully decorated. Our host was really friendly and cooked an excellent breakfast. The location is within a very quick stroll to the local pub and the Charles Cotton Hotel, which served excellent food. We stayed for two nights and could have stayed much longer, hope to go again soon!

We were sad to only spend 1 night at this lovely place. Our twin room was spacious and comfortable. Jane made us feel very welcome and was a great host. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The B&B is only a few steps from the quaint village centre, which for such a small place, has plenty to offer. Would love to stay there again and for more than 1 night next time.

We stayed August Bank Holiday weekend.
We received a lovely warm welcome from Jane who offered us advice during our stay on places to visit etc. The room had character, was nicely decorated, clean and quiet. Breakfast was good. The location in the village was excellent. We managed a walk straight from the door and hired cycles at Parsley Hay which is close by. We ate in the Devonshire Arms very good) and the Charles Cotton Hotel (Good-but slow service). - would recommend booking in advance as they were both very busy. My only little gripes - the noise in our room when other rooms were using their shower and location of the bathroom mirror. Neither a major problem though and would not stop us returning again. This is the perfect weekend retreat for us. A lovely quiet room with friendly owners, in a quiet village with lovely surroundings, with a couple of pubs for evening meals that are busy enough to have a nice atmosphere.

The advantage of this set up is that the accommodation is such that separated from the main house in a fold yard you get all the advantages of hiring a cottage without the cooking. Breakfast served in a separate little eatery.
Very pleasant host, can talk the hind leg off a donkey but lovelly and helpful on all local attractions

we stayed in the shepherds room (upstairs)at the hayloft and it was very comfortable, spotlessly clean and obviously tastefully converted. Jane was very welcoming and knowledgeable and cooked us a fantastic breakfast in the adjoining dining room. Each room has it's own front door and little touches like the tray for muddy boots were helpful. Car parking was safe and plentiful. We only wish we could have stayed longer than our 3 days. The village is friendly and excellent for local walks. The bus stop is literally 3 minutes from the Hayloft. The Devonshire Arms pub made us very welcome in the eveing and the food served was first class and plentiful. On a Friday evening the local hotel has live entertainment when the village comes to life - well worth a visit. If you want a break where you have walks, buses, good food, and some independance - this place is ideal. After a long day out walking and sight seeing we would go back to our room to have a piping hot shower, watch a bit of TV and then go out for an evening meal. Just perfect ! If you like cheese - visit the little cheese shop - the pineapple cheese is wonerful. Just to remind you - there is no mobile signal - but the pub has a pay phone.
