We spent a couple of nights at the farmhouse in July 2009 and it was so peaceful. The location is lovely and although it was extremely warm weather when we were visiting, the really thick walls of the farmhouse provided welcome coolness inside.

The village itself has a great pub The Devonshire Arms, the food is super and serves half portions for those with a smaller apetite! Close to the farm are lots of lovely walks and wonderful views.

Bank Top Farm is a lovely traditional farmhouse just a 10 minute walk from Hartington village. It's a working farm and the building itself is very old. The bedroom was ensuite with wonderful traditional furniture and comfy bed. Don't expect mod cons but that's part of the charm and it is so quiet at night. We were made very welcome especially by Jill the sheepdog. If you intend to walk to the village pub then take a torch as it's extremely dark walking back. Watch out for the cattle that roam the lane quite freely! Hartington itself is a lovely small village with a wonderful pub, The Devonshire Arms.
