“Met aspirations for food ale and a warm welcome”
Reviewed February 12, 2014 via mobile

Love this pub, it's landlord, food and staff. I am not easy to please as a rule but have nothing to recommend changing or improving.
Ate in the restaurant and drank in the lounge and bar over a weekend, and had to be dragged out!
Until next time.........

“Great food and atmosphere”
Reviewed February 1, 2014

Great food and atmosphere in a beautiful village - warm and homely and dogs are allowed in the bar which was great - made to feel welcome and good lunch time food.

“Great value for money”
Reviewed February 1, 2014

My wife & I use this pub regularly for Sunday roast lunches. Lovely old style pub with warm welcoming real coal fire, and friendly staff. Food is always consistently very nice and great value for money. Never had cause to complain or send food back. Usually book for early Sunday lunch, about 12MD and food is on the table within 5-10 mins, piping hot and very tasty. Added bonus, there's a cracking cheese shop Gromit!!, with all manner of goodies, much of which is made by themselves or locally sourced. What's not to like?

“A walkers pub for great lunch”
Reviewed January 2, 2014

Cold day, biting December wind, open fires, warm welcome, good ale and great lunch......need I say anymore? The vast majority of revues are positive and well deserved so there is not a great deal I can add , save to say we were impressed with the speed of service for our lunch (a party of five) and the substantial portions. Without doubt value for money at the end of a good days walking. It does as the add says 'exactly what it says on the tin', it performs excellently as a most welcoming establishment - especially to 'out of towners' - with good value food and drink.

“Nice place”
Reviewed January 2, 2014 via mobile

Good service with pleasant staff on arrival, good choice all round of drinks and menu options.

Meals were of a good portion size needing only the two to fill you up.

Would go back again.
