We arrived soaked with a party of 9 at lunchtime to find this welcoming pub. We were allowed to hand wet coats on hooks, took our muddy shoes off, sat near the real fire and ordered from the selection of real ale and extensive menu. I had the steak and ale pie with a large puff pastry crust, chips, and plenty of veg. Polished this off with Bakewell tart and custard. The menu selection is excellent, food did not take too long even though quite busy, staff very accommodating. Food was excellent pub grub standard. Beer was good too. Probably best to reserve a table if at peak times. Ideal for walkers especially if wet. 2 course meal including beer £18.
