“Serenity!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2013

Once you have recovered from the transfers, both ways, your whole experience will bring sighs of contentment at every memorable thought of this place. If you want peace and quiet and immediate chill out this is the place to be.The hotel apartments are better than I have come to expect of Corfu, The staff are all helpful, courteous and happy in their work.If you dont want to join in the usual "packaged" entertainment your not forced to and those that do didnt disrupt the natural serenity of this whole area any more than expected. There is a typical selection of Greek/med "style" eateries. Never had a bad food experience. The food in the hotel bar and pool areas was good enough, Matellas was exceptional and quirky. Beach tavernas Thomas and Kalami were standard. Elias was good quality snack food. Nickolas did not live up to expectations. The local and visiting people we met were friendly. The scenery breathtaking, from the view from the rooms to the discovery secret coves. Despite the usual bare bottomed old aged Germans. Transfers! ITS CORFU. Steps up to your apartment! ITS CORFU. Disfunctional showers and aircon! ITS CORFU. People doing kareoke, quizzes & traditional dancing! ITS THEIR HOLIDAYS TOO! Bare bottomed Germans! Thank you Kalami Bay. X

Room Tip: You will need insect repellant if you follow a wet rainy spell to this resort.

Stayed here with my family and was very excited to visit after reading the good reviews but unfortunately the apartments are very uncomfortable and not very clean. Staff at the cocktails and dreams bar were fab and made our stay enjoyable. I would visit Kalami again but may find different accommodation when I do! Excellent views of Kalami bay and bar staff are what makes this hotel...

First time to these apartments and our initial impression was that the studio apartment looked rather dated and tired however the location, the cleanliness and the amazingly helpful receptionist - Gina, more than made up for this.
So for a basic, but clean studio apartment in a beautiful location we recommend these.

My husband and I returned to the Adonis for our 4th time now, which is something we haven't done anywhere else in the world, apart from one trip to the Maldives. Yes the apartments themselves would benefit from an update, but they are clean (they are cleaned everyday except Sunday), they are adequate and fit for purpose, the gardens are natural and beautiful, the staff are friendly, the apartments are great value for money and most of all the views from these apartments are wonderful!! I can understand some reviewers gripes about the noise from the evenings entertainment but other people too are on holiday and they enjoy this kind of entertainment and to be honest it doesn't go on too late does it!! This certainly isn't Kavos!!!! We don't personally go here for the entertainment and find we are in bed early and I have to say the noise has never stopped us from sleeping. A suggestion would be to ask for one of the higher blocks.block 4/5. The staff here work really hard and the apartments have a great family feel to them. These apartments are not 5 star yet don't pretend to be either, so embrace the simplicity of Greece and appreciate these apartments for their continued efforts, the view, the staff and very important now a days the cost!! They have made improvements to the reception area since we visited previously, which is lovely by the way. Well done the Adonis

Room Tip: Choose around level 4/5 if concerned about noise.

As a regular visitor you do form a great affection for both the place and the staff, this makes it hard to be critical, but realities must be acknowledged.
The apartments have had their usual winter paint job but this is only serving now to more and more highlight the dilapidated condition of the fixtures and fittings in the rooms ,tired 60,s would be an apt description.
The bathroom plumbing is "State of the Ark"
Just a new shower head would be a god send.
The long awaited re-furb that started a few years ago has been abandoned, while I recognise the Greek economics the accommodation is always full so the money is coming in!
Thomson quite rightly make a feature of the Top pool and it,s spectacular view.
The view is still spectacular, the pool is not.
The bottom end is overhung with olive trees and bushes so by morning there is a collection of olive pollen, leaves and insects contaminating this area.
The pool opens at 8 am but there is now no physical presence till gone 9, so if you want an early morning swim you either stay top end only or net it yourself, not what we were previously accustomed to.
On our second last day there were large deposits of brown sludge on the pool floor, when I enquired about it I was told it was because they had changed the filters, I guess they must have put them in backwards.
The focal point of the complex is now very much the downstairs bar (the big money maker)
Quiz nights and Karaoke nights now doubled ,so "Entertainment" with its .attendant noise from 10pm onwards now 5 days a week, not good news if you are in the lower rooms.
May well be pure coincidence but the number of people going round to Agni at night was the highest I have ever seen for the time of year.
Some of the staff are still as service driven as always, some are more profit orientated.
Staff at this early point seem to be working at their limits think the cracks will be showing come high season

Room Tip: If you have a mobility problem go for low floor

I'll start by highlighting the faults with the two negative reviews:

A). What did you expect going to a summer destination in October? Plenty of info on the 'net about Corfu's seasonal availability... I'd hazard a guess at the notion of the room probably being even more unbelievably cheap during October, so the €6 return into Corfu town is at WORST a minor inconvenience, given the fantastic views. Someone obviously forgot to tell them that Kassiopi is only half an hour to the North by bus also but there we are.

B). Gina was an extremely accommodating receptionist to us, both over the phone and by email - but especially in person. It wouldn't have hurt to pick up the phone if this guy was that worried. We respected her and she respected us. Adonis Asonitis is not a 5* snob infested all inclusive deal - it's a very friendly ran group of self catering apartments... Perfect for those independent tourists willing to get off the bench and fend for themselves!

Anyway - our review. First impressions were very good, we were in a double room in block 1. Friendly staff showed us to the room and left us be. Worked out all the stuff in the room fairly easily, except the air con - if you get stuck with this, just open the fuse box and trip the fuses until you find the right one. That's how we turned it on and off and it worked fine. Room was very clean and all the basics for self catering were provided. Maid service was very good, never came when we slept in and never touched any of the £2,500 with of electrical goods that were scattered around the place.

Both pools and bars were very well staffed and very friendly. The "bar snacks" at the bottom bar are actually more equivalent to a full provision of breakfast lunch and dinner - all 3 courses in the dinner department. Available all day. Good selection of alcohol as well, and all relatively cheap compared to the local tavernas which are similarly priced to UK pubs.

Several tavernas are available locally, our favourite was taverna Agni in the next bay. Second best was the White House, finally Thomas's place. Water taxi's are available to the local bays, which are Kouloura and Agni.

The rep, Laura, was slightly unprofessional at times - but we had no problems so didn't have a need to be around her really. Quiz nights were fine, Karaoke was as embarrassing as always and Greek night wasn't for us, but the atmosphere on any night was really good - we are a couple in our young 20's and the place seems to attract really friendly middle aged and young'ish couples along with the odd family - either way we only found one group that was not to our tastes!

Boat hire from Kalami boats costed €90 for a days hire with apartment discount, and the fuel. We went right to the limits - went north to Kassiopi and then down south to Barbati. Moored up in Agni on the way back and went for a swim. Very professional services, and wherever you stop the locals will help you moor up at the jetty or make space for you In the harbours.
