“Perfect Stay”
Reviewed June 17, 2012

My husband and I stayed here as part of a Balkans road trip. We could not believe the service and the ammenities for the price. We parked for free right in front of the hotel. The front desk kept the keys in case it needed to be moved. Breakfast (included) was nice and filling with an assortment of meats, cheeses, pastries, eggs, fruit, etc. The room was clean, modern and comfortable. I am very picky when it comes to noise, and I did not hear a single person talking or any doors slamming. It is nicer than some HIlton's I have stayed at in the US. The service was great. They were happy to answer any of our questions. We ate in the hotel several times and were pleased with our meals. When we come back, it is the only place we would stay.

The hotel is in a fairly large renovated building and is centrally located between the bazaar and the main pedestrian street where all the action happens. It's also right on the river. We had a standard room which was absolutely beautiful and looked as though it was brand new it was so clean. The decor is very modren and tasteful and looks ecpensive. They have used really interedting woods on the doors and furniture. Everything worked perfectly which it certianly doesn't everywhere in the Balkans. Our only complaint, and one we dould easily live with, is that the bedroom and bathroom are quite small. Still were very happy and this was. By far the best hotel we've stayed in in over two weeks of traveling. There is a very nice formal restaurant and a huge indoor and outdoor casual one overlooking the river. We had dinner there and it everything from the bread basket and appetizers to the mains of local trout and the wine were delicious and beautifully presented. Do not miss out on looking at the deserts and trying a few - you'll think you're in Vienna they are so good.

In the last days of March, I had the possibility to stay for a couple of nights at the "Dukagjini" hotel in Peja. It must be said that this hotel has been built and used since the early '60es during the former Yugoslavian regime, so there is a long tradition of welcoming and tourism services. It has been entirely renovated after the Serbian army invaded and destroyed most of the city of Peja, so it was a real pleasure for me to stay in this place.

It is located right at the centre of the city, next to the river and with a great view of the surrounding beautiful mountains. The rooms are quite modern and comfortable and the breakfast included in the room price (very affordable for two people) was superb also because it included traditional products of the area. Great Wi-Fi connection available for free. The restaurant of the hotel is perhaps the best you can find in the city, but this should not convince you not to try the other gastronomic attractions Peja has to offer.

A few weak points: at the restaurant of the hotel, I never got the same-looking and ingredient-containing dish twice. The service can get a bit confused when dealing with many people (as it happens during the weekends). However all the staff is very friendly and ready to give their best to please even the most insignificant of the client's needs. A big thank you to the people of the reception and to the waiters of the restaurant.

Should you plan to visit Peja or the Rugova mountainous area, this is the place to stay.

Room Tip: As smoking is not allowed in the room, try to get a room with a balcony. There is also a superb suit...

If you want to feel welcomed at all times, treated with care and dignity you are undoubtedly at the right hotel, be that for leisure or professional/work visits to the region. To add more, the hotel meets European and worldwide hotel requirements of this category. If you want to feel the comfort of this hotel, visit Peja in early spring, when you can sit outside in the terrace, in the sun, feel the city vibes and look at the surrounding mountains. Don't miss visiting also the Rugova mountains in its proximity, great for hiking, climbing, mountain biking, (the locals also ski however there's no real ski center yet) and just enjoying its beautiful nature (e.g. http://www.flickr.com/photos/asdren/2687712260/).
