“A gem on the waterfront”

I was a bit worried about this hotel when booking but I needn't have been. The rooms are spotless, the service great and it has the most amazing garden bar/restaurant on the 4th floor with a magnificent vista over the Mekong Delta. I wish we could have stayed longer.

I was there for volunteer work so I stayed for almost a month at the hotel. Most of the time the crew and I stayed and ate at the hotel because there was not many restaurants. Food was not so so bad but it was the same old thing everyday AND majority of the things we ordered from the menu they did not have. Some dishes had to be ordered in advanced. We ate a lot of the same thing. Services from waiters were not very good and they get our menu wrong EVERYDAY. The people worked there are very nice and friendly though. I liked that there was a pool since we worked there during the HOTTEST time of year. The views from the windows are nice and it sits RIGHT on the river. Besides the restaurants, the stay was very memorable. The staffs from the hotel were very nice and helpful.

I would stay there again but would have to find restaurants. Not eating in the hotel restaurants that takes forever for the food to come out AND don't have 1/2 the things we ordered.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights in September with our two teenage sons in a family room. We stayed here completely by accident as the hotel we were originally booked in at across the river had a death in the family and were in mourning. :( But we were very happy with our stay here. :) Our room was very large, very clean and very comfortable. The kids loved the pool. We hired bikes from the hotel and rode up along the river and through town. The hotel also had their own little travel agent at the front of the hotel, which we booked a "Mekong Delta" full-day tour through (not expensive). This tour was one of our best days while in Vietnam. We had our own tour guide for the day, Dean (pronounced: Dee-ann), and he was fantastic. He made the day. Ben Tre is a great place to visit if you like to get away from the tourist crowd. Lovely and quite, and nice for a couple of days after Ho Chi Minh. Only saw a couple of other Westeren tourists for our entire stay. The rest of the hotel patrons were from Ho Chi Mnh city. We were the centre of attention when wandering around the streets. Especially the kids. Nothing much to do here, and only a couple of eateries, but if you do a tour, that fills in a whole day and is all you need. It was great. The hotel owner of the hotel (very helpful man) also booked us onto a local bus back to Ho Chi Minh city (easy), as we had a flight to DaNang to catch.

If you want western 'luxury' then this isn't the place for you. This is a very respectable but large local hotel which caters very well for Vietnamese tastes.
So if you want a flavour of the real Vietnam ( not the Disney version) then you'd do well to stay here
Top tip: take one of the front rooms (101,201 etc) as these are large with jacuzzi & separate dressing room. Sounds grand but is all rather dated in a quaint kind of way
Fantastically cheap for what you get & there are great views from the 4th floor cafe

This is a good hotel, I believe it is a former state hotel. Ben Tre has very little tourists so there is not much choice. The rooms are specious and clean. The stairways and halls are massive. The restaurant is not good. Most food on the menu is not served. The restaurant was almost empty when we were there and we ate there only once ourselves. On the premises, a local state tourist office is located and they offer an excellent excursion in Ben Tre and surroudings. Ben Tre itself it authentic and therefore charming!

This was an interesting part of our family trip.
The rooms were massive and very comfortable, the place seems to be set up for Asian tourists as the style and service was strange for us. The floors were so slippery one had to be very cautious when showering but the views of the river from the said slippery bathroom was worth it.
The food was very Asian and the waiters had a lot of difficulty with English. Prices for food and drinks was very reasonable and very pleasant.
The management was professional and looked after us well. We would return.

Room Tip: Get the front rooms overlooking the river, not to high up though because one may hear all the noise...

We arrived without a reservation they showed us the rooms including the suite to choose. The suite room was very large with sitting area desk and spa with balcony overlooking the river. Bike hire was cheap and there is a small pool. Ben tre has a great promenade area straight outside with a night market and lots of street food options. The juicebar upstairs was great with free wifi. I agree with other reviewers that the Ben tre news loudspeakers were fine though they started very early and yes there is a lot of chair scraping as part of pack up of the bar if you are underneath.
Staff were great and organised our bus to HCMC with a pickup from the hotel.
The 'local sweets' on the very good buffet breakfast were a favourite.
