Kakadu Lodge and Caravan Park
Reviewed October 2, 2012

We are a family of five and we stayed in a two bedroom cabin. We were all comfy in the cabin and were not left wanting for anything else. Jabiru is central to most of the attractions of Kakadu and looking at the other accomodation I think we stayed in the best spot. The kids loved the pool area as did I. We ate one night at the bistro/ restaurant. The food was good though a little pricey as was the beer. Everything in Kakadu costs more though. We got our Coronas and most of our food in Darwin before heading out. The other nights we cooked our own in our cabin which had all of the appliances we needed. We would highly recommend this resort.

Thank you for your review on our property. It was pleasing to read that you consider us to be the best accommodation option in Kakadu. We are glad you enjoyed your dining experience with us. We endeavour to keep our prices as reasonable as possible, but it is a difficult excersize because of freight costs associated with our location as well as our policy of not purchasing ready to go food. Our chefs take pride in being able to supply fresh, Australian produce rather than processed imported options.
We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and look forward to seeing you again at Kakadu Lodge or one of our other Aurora properties.

Kind regards

We started at Kakadu lodge for 3 nights. It was clean, staff were friendly and it was very conveniently located for touring Kakdu.. Very central.

The reason for 4 stars for cost is simply that if you don't want to be in a town/community you can stay at a managed campsite with toilets and showers and drinking water for $10 per adult/night.

BUT I would recommend Kakadu lodge to anyone. It has a nice pool and restaurant and is very reasonably priced for somewhere so remote.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. It was pleasing to read that you enjoyed your stay and would recommend our facility.
We understand that there are cheaper options for people wanting to camp in Kakadu but we beleive our facilities and service are worth the price, which is only $3 more per person per night for unpowered camping with children under 12 staying for free. It becomes even more attractive after you have had a swim in our large lagoon style pool and consider that the cost of entry into a public pool in this region is $4 for adults and $2 per child.
We realize that the managed campgrounds in Kakadu do not have extra facilities ilke a fully licenced bistro, souvenir and convenience store, tour sales, free outdoor movies, bbq facilities, camp kitchen, laundry facilities, seasonal slide shows and no mosquitoes. With this in mind I am sure that most people would agree that the extra $3 per person is well worth it.
Thanks again for choosing to stay with us and we look forward to seeing you again at Kakadu Lodge or one of our other Aurora properties.

Kind regards

We stayed on a grass powered site which was extremely spacious and spread out. The amenities were nice and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The entertainment by the pool was great and the pool was amazing. Definitely the place to stay when exploring kakadu.

Thank you for the glowing review of our property. Our staff put alot of effort into keeping our property attractive to our valued guests. We will have 1 of our 5 amenities blocks closed over the next few months to facilitate refurbishing. We are centrally located to all attractions at the north end of Kakadu and the entrance into Arnhem Land.

Thank you for your positive comments and we look forward to seeing you again soon at Kakadu Lodge or one of our other Aurora properties

Stayed one night at powered site. All amenities were clean and satisfactory. Not many alternatives in Jabiru yet the price was reasonable. Large caravan park with plenty of sites. Excellent base for touring Kakadu National Park. We arrived in mid-afternoon and then drove to watch the sunset at Ubirr.

This place was a great rest stop for an overnight stay in Kakadu however you could make it a base if you were looking at a few nights. The pool was fantastic and the restaurant food was great, it was also nice to have the option of a grassy site away from the red dirt! The camp kitchen was fairly basic but it did have a freezer which was fantastic on long hot days. Recommend.

Arrived at Kakadu Lodge to book a powered caravan site. very helpful attendant. Found lovely quiet site in natural setting.. Pool looked inviting but we wished to explore Ubirr which we could do with a drive from here via the Bowali visitor centre to buy a permit. Lodge is situated near to Jabiru so we were able to visit supermarket, post office, bank, petrol station and a wonderful bakery. Would have like to stay longer but time did not permit

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. Kakadu Lodge is central to many of the attractions that Kakadu has to offer. It is a pity that you did not have sufficient time to explore its vast wilderness.
It was great to read that you had a peaceful stay, although you did not have the opportunity to get full use of our facilities, maybe next time.
We look forward to seeing you again soon at Kakadu Lodge or one of our other Aurora properties

We camped here for two nights, enjoying the shady site, camp kitchen, and lovely pool area. The toilets/showers were a bit tired, but I understand that they are gradually being refurbished - and they were always clean. The park is well-sited to see the National Park, and we made early starts then came back to the site to cool off in the pool.

However, on our third evening, disaster struck when we returned to our tent to find that it had been wrecked during the day by dingoes. Peter the manager was very apologetic, annoyed on our behalf, and helpful, preparing a report for our insurance company, and offering us a cabin for our last night. Apparently we should have been warned about dingoes upon arrival - although I'm not sure we'd have done anything differently.

Anyway, we don't want that story to scare anyone off, as this is an excellent site, especially the sparkling pool area, and the staff were very friendly.

Thank you for choosing to stay at Kakadu Lodge. We value all feedback.
It certainly was an unfortunate incident in relation to your tent being attacked on the last night of your stay. The rangers from Kakadu National Park along with the Shire Council have undertaken a relocation program within the township of Jabiru to help reduce the chances of these kinds of incidents.
We provide information on Dingoes and what to do in their presence but we still get guests who are intent on feeding them, which is where the trouble initially stems from.
We are happy that you enjoyed your stay with us and I am pleased to inform you that we have commenced a refurbishment of our ablution facilities which should be ready by January 2013.
We look forward to seeing you again at Kakadu Lodge or one of our other Aurora properties
