Our group of 12 recently did the tour of this cave complex. All staff were very friendly right from time of booking and our guide was so enthusiastic, you just couldn't help being interested yourself. Wonderful formations. As with other groups we were also treated to a beautiful rendition of a Maori song - the acoustics were wonderful

Our tour through the Ngarua caves was such a sight to behold. Make time in your travels to go here. The tour guide was well versed on history and geological knowledge. She even sang for us, incredible voice.

We saw these as we travelled to Takaka & decided to go to do a trip round. Very interesting & our guide, Dave, was awesome. The tours leave on the hour, every hour & generally take 45-50 minutes & are guide led. You do need to be reasonably able-bodied, particularly at the end climbing a near vertical ladder (I'm not good with ladders but managed it fine) but wear shorts or trousers!! A warm jacket is handy - the caves are a steady 11deg C.

Dave took us along the stalagtites and stalagmites, telling us about the cave in an informative and humerous way. A pleasant visit.

I think the trip was as good as it was because of the fantastic guide. she was clearly so passionate about her subject, knowledgeable and interested that we could have stayed chatting for hours.
This is a fine example of a cave system and a rally interesting couple of hours
Watch out for the special treat in the cathedral !
