We went on the Discoverer day tour option but there are lots of other options for walks/cruises/sight seeing etc. This option included cruise from Kaiteriteri all the way to the top of the park with a look at seals on the way up and then on return journey drop off at Medlands bay and my partner and myself walked back to Anchorage bay which they advise takes about 3.5 hours. We took a side track first to walk round to Bark bay and see the waterfall on the footbridge. The Abel Tasman coastal track is stunning and I definitely recommend a walk even it is a small one! Sandfly bay off the track is amazing and definitely worth the tricky trek down to the beach. We caught the later ferry back at 4.45pm which I would recommend to give you more time for photo's and lunch etc. The crew on the shuttle were very friendly and helpful and good commentary on the way round. The shuttle conducts many stops off which means a closer look at some of the bays. The boats design is good too and the ladder onto the sand means no wet shoes! Toilet and small snacks/drinks available on board.

A fantastic experience, with a knowledgeable crew who go out of their way to help and assist. From the early morning pick up, to the end of day drop off, the service is consistent. Loved it. Highly, highly recommended.

We chose the sail , walk , sail option which we had been recommended to and it worked brilliantly . We had 25 mins to spare at the pick up on a deserted beach . Time to each the lunch we bought before we left the beach in Kaiteriteri

Great way to get back to Kaiteriteri after 4 days walking in Abel Tasman. Boat crew were both friendly and chatty and kindly took us via Tonga island for a quick photo stop of the seals and cormorants/shags. Very knowledgeable.
Toilet on board.

The Abel Tasman Sea Shuttle company run purpose designed twin hulled boats along the coast from Kaiteriteri to Totaranui and back, stopping at pick up and drop off points on the beaches in the Abel Tasman National Park. They offer a number of ticket options. There is a 3 day park passport for those wanting to spend several days walking and boating while camping or staying in one of the many places offering accommodation in the Park. There are sightseeing trips on the boat for half a day, or full day. We are active seniors and took the 9:15am “Discoverer Day” option which included travelling in the boat and seeing all the sights from the water, including seals and dolphins and bird life and the spectacular coast line. We were then dropped off at Torrent Bay and walked the track back to Medlands Bay, near Bark Bay to be picked up. The Discoverer Day is claimed to be their most popular trip and covers the best part of the track, including the suspension bridge and wonderful views through the trees out to the sea. The walk is not too strenuous and took us a leisurely 2 hours and we still had an hour to spare before pickup. Take lunch and water and good walking shoes, sunscreen and a hat. On the day we went, the weather was fine, but there was a chill in the air and having layers of clothing to provide warmth when not walking, and cutting the cold breeze from the sea, especially on the boat, was important. This is a pleasant adventure that will appeal to families and others of all ages who are of average walking fitness. The Abel Tasman Sea Shuttle crew do a good job and are very friendly, informative and helpful.
