“Stunning location and accommodation”
Reviewed March 17, 2012

A bit out of the way to get to but well worth the effort. Scott and John - and not forgetting Molly -are wonderfull hosts. The house and cottage are very stylish and comfortable. Great location to tour the Abel Tasmin area.

Kiwis are renowned for not staying in bed and breakfast accommodation but we were extremely pleased that we broke our own rule of thumb and treated ourselves to a couple of nights with John and Scott in Awatea Tasman Bay. The scenery is breathtaking and the accommodation is outstanding, but the generosity and graciousness of the hosts that make the experience so memorable. As other reviewers have noted, it is their kindness and attention to the needs of their guests that stands out. Their home is a delightful space to be in and you cannot but relax and enjoy your surroundings while there. A fabulous way to finish a holiday in the south island.

Room Tip: The cottage is self contained and if you are staying for a few nights it would be worth the extra co...

John and Scott are amazing hosts and built an amazing place overlooking the river and Motueka town. We are lucky to be here!

Outside of town center. Serene, clean, library, dvd's to watch, close to Abel Tasman park, offer breakfast and dinner.

Two couples just spent two nights at Awatea with John and Scott. We were humbled by the effort that they put into our stay. They were kind, thoughtful and generous hosts without being intrusive. The beds were amazing, and their local knowledge was wonderful. We had a meal at Riverside lodge thanks to Johns insight that Rita Angus had once lived there. Their attention to detail and marvellous interesting things that they are exploring with their property were keenly shared.
It is not every day you get to have such a fantastic experience in such exqusie accomodation.

Room Tip: Any room is superb

We were lucky enough to stay two nights in the Cottage. Everything has been considered - we wanted for nothing. We agree with other reviewers, that the pictures understate the beauty of both the accommodation and the views which are breath-taking. Our hosts were welcoming, warm and attentive to make sure our stay was perfect. Meals were wonderful – especially loved the home-made bread! John and Scott are knowledgeable about the area and made some wonderful recommendations for exploring and experiencing the region. Definitely a 5 (out of 5) stars stay in a particularly lovely part of the country.

We have been lucky enough to have had 3 separate trips to NZ in the last 5 years and Abel Tasman region is one our favourite locations. This was our first stay at Awatea Tasman Bay and we were not disappointed - it is a modern, clean and well looked after boutique accommodation with B&B rooms at the main house and a self-contained cottage (which we booked for 4 nights), that has it's own deck and BBQ facilities. The location has amazing views out over the bay. Your hosts wil be very welcoming and are able to offer lots of tips of things to do and see in the local area. The hot-tub was excellent after a day out tramping on the Abel Tasman Coastal Track or taking a sea kayak trip. The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped with all 'mod-cons'. When we venture to the region again, this will be top of our list for places to stay!

Room Tip: We chose to stay in the Cottage, as we wanted to be self contained. The amenities were excellent.

Stunning location accompanied by exceptional hosts
ALL of these headlines are completely true.
We stayed in the Cottage and we had breakfast and dinner every day in the main house.
A wonderful, wonderful 3 days. Thank you so much John and Scott.
