Stayed one night in a garden view room, room quite large, clean and tidy, room dated and could do with a makeover, bed comfortable, TV very small and hard to see from a distance, no air con, shower pathetic. Hotel in a great spot right on the beach overlooking the harbor, swimming pool, lots of decking and meals very good. Plenty of parking. Hotel handy to wharf where lots of people fish, and close to garage and takeaway shop. Staff pleasant to deal with. A great place to relax

Room Tip: If your budget allows the harbour view rooms would be better especially the newer block

Pauline thank you for your response . I am pleased to write that we have since you stayed with us, made considerable changes to our garden view rooms. Pauline you were quite right, the rooms were tired and in need of a makeover. We have more work to do, but they are indeed looking alot smarter.

Regards
Pip

Room was ok ,the television set was about 12 inches though and could have been replaced for a set twice that size for the price of the room. The bummer was the restaurant though, no alternative available in the area and priced accordingly, led to expensive prices. we waited nearly an hour for our meal with a restaurant with max 14 house guests, to receive an incredibly bland over creamed seafood chowder followed by a double cooked pork belly that was all together inedible[was refunded $6.60, so it only cost me $27 for something I couldn't eat} and a salad that was dull had no flavour.
Staff were great and the location superb but the food wasn't good at all.

Room Tip: Food was terrible!

We treated ourselves to one night at Copthorne, in Omapere, Hokianga at the end of our trip around Northland NZ. We received a very friendly welcome and our beachfront room overlooked the beautiful bay at Omapere. The spacious room was really well appointed with a comfortable king bed, nice furnishings, a large modern bathroom and a private patio with comfortable outdoor furniture where you can relax and enjoy the views.
Dinner in the restaurant was excellent, the service outstanding and we were fortunate to experience a wonderful sunset across the bay.
A hearty breakfast in the morning set us up for the next stage of our travels.
We would certainly recommend the Copthorne, Hokianga to anyone visiting Northland, NZ.

Room Tip: The beachfront rooms are worth the extra few dollars.

The setting is undoubtedly beautiful- make sure you sit outside so you can see the full beauty of the place. I didn't stay in the hotel, so can't comment on that, but the hotel bar is nice enough. There are lots of old photos on the wall which made you feel less like you are in 'just' another hotel bar. I had the calamari to start which was tasty (shared between 2) followed by fish and chips. The food was nice, if not a little greasy (then again, it was all fried!). Service was good and everyone was friendly. I think, were I to return, I would go for something else on the menu though

Kia ora London Waffle,
Thanks for calling in for lunch. Our menu reflects our location, and showcases alot of seafood, local produce and indigenious cuisine.
Our fish of the day is always fresh fish.
We would love for you to return one day, stay with us and sample more of our menu.

Cheers
Pip

this hotel has an excellent location, beautiful views and a great deck overlooking the water and pool. The pool area is nice too. Unfortunatly the rooms are very tired and in my opinion overpriced for the area. Thye carpet and bathrrom was not as clean as we would have liked and this was one of the most espensive places we stayed at on our weekend away.

Room Tip: There are rooms that have water views, which would be lovely, however we stayed in the standard room...

Beautiful site overlooking the Hokianga Bay. We had booked a superior room and got one on the second floor with a sort-of winter garden and balcony which was okay. The view was somewhat restricted by a big tree, on the other hand it was an impressive tree and nice to look at, too. There was no air condition, no mosquito protection, no safe, no gym. Small pool with restaurant-terrace, very nice. The restaurant was combined with the bar. Food and service were good. Prices for food and beverage are rather on the high side. Internet was available at a reasonable price.
The main asset is definitely the position of the hotel.

Kia ora Voyager- Liese,

Thank you for staying with us in the Hokianga. You are quite right, the position of the hotel is our greatest asset and I believe our staff are also a big asset. They take real ownership of our hotel. The large tree that you mention is stunning, with it's bright red flowers, just prior to christmas, our very old pohutukawa tree.
The absence of a gym is something that hopefully we will be able to change in the not too distant future.
Thanks for staying with us and I do hope you enjoyed New Zealand.

Our rooms were in the new extension and were on the first floor. The views over the bay were amazing. The room was massive, with an internal and external balcony. We had a great group meal, with ice cream to die for.
