I was treated to a decadent birthday lunch here and what a treat that was. The view over Carlingford lough is simply stunning, ask for a table in the window and enjoy watching the sun sparkle on the water as you dine!
The staff were very warm, welcoming and just lovely, passionate about the menu and well informed. The mini loaves served warm in a hessian sack were a delight as were our beautifully presented starters, each one delicious! Raymond Mcardle has an obvious talent and is a chef to watch.
He was presenting the best of regional produce each dish a feast for the eyes and a delight on the palette. With an extensive and impressive wine list we were in no hurry nd though it was well into mid afternoon were not in any way hurried or felt we had to finish up and go. Our mains were superb and we had a selection of sides which did not disappoint, all gorgeous.
We even managed to share a desert and had perfect Irish coffees, we were obviously not driving!
The whole experience was wonderful and I will definitley return, maybe stay over and go for dinner next time .........

Have to say that this is one of the noisiest places I have ever stayed in, period. It's been nicely renovated but they completely and utterly forgot the soundproofing, big time!!! The walls are so paper thin you can hear everyone talking, and....

All the doors slam, including the fire doors along the corridor, even the room door locks are noisy. The plumbing gurgles, the bass of the weekend bar music is loud the the point of irritating, the patrons go outside to smoke and shout as loud as then can until some ungodly hour, and on a wedding night or a Saturday night forget it! It appears that one should either join the party or expect absolutely minimal sleep with maximum frustration. Ear plugs don't work, cotton wool doesn't work, asking politely for quiet only invites further noise and disrespectful, verbal drunken f-word abuse, Not pleasant by any stretch of the imagination.

However, the food was very good, especially breakfast. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the hotel clean and tidy, the room comfortable and the shower brilliant. Have to say though, I'd have to be very hard pressed to stay there again all things considered, which is a shame as the renovation and service thoughts are there, it's the dire lack of sleep that was missing - which is actually what you pay for in a hotel isn't it...?

Room Tip: DO NOT get a room next to the stairs, or the lift, or above the bottle shop, or above the bar, or wi...

booked this hotel through groupon and didn't really expect too much from it, we just wanted to get away for couple of days... it was a pleasant surprise! room was lovely and comfortable and right in front of the sea - which we had problems seeing because of all the heavy rain!! there was a restaurant one floor below and a bar on the ground floor. restaurant was very fancy looking and a little pricier than we expected but the food was good and service excellent.. breakfast was a great experience mostly because of the guy who served it, he was a treasure... didn't get his name but he was able to reel off historical facts, places to visit and even had time for general chats - lovely guy :D the bar at night was good craic - locals were very friendly, introducing themselves and others. we watched Ireland's football game one night in the bar and the atmosphere was great (even though they lost)... would definately recommend for a short break and we'd like to go back when the weather would be good enough for us to get out and do some sight seeing :D

The room was clean and well serviced . Breakfasts in a great location , great content, well presented and served. Friendly staff .
However minor things could be sorted out e.g. the basic lift , little information on the area etc . I cannot comment on other reviws on noise as I was at back of hotel in the week and as such quiet but could see potential for challenges mentioned .

Room Tip: Back of the hotel

Stayed at the balmoral after being at a wedding. On check in there appeared to be no porter until he randomly appeared. Hotel is very over priced. £100 for the night, should be half that. Room is nice and also very clean although we were put next to a room right next to the stairs so you here everyone coming up after they've been out. The room is also directly above the bar which u can hear very clearly using the f word till half two in the morning as the bar was full till then. When we entered the hotel after the wedding we were stopped by a bouncer if we were residence! The view from the restaurant is nice however and the room shower was excellent. If I was staying in warren point again I wouldn't stay here personally.

I stayed recently between meetings, using it as an opportunity to catch up with an old friend in the region.
The best feature is the restaurant. We had dinner there, and I had breakfast in the morning. Both were excellent.
The hotel serves a purpose, but is not set up for business use - the wifi did not reach the room (when I commented on this on check-out I was told there was a wired connection in the room, but there were no signs to it when I was there). Check out was very lengthy - first find a member of staff, wait while they find the right member of staff, wait while they run up to the restaurant to get the dinner bill that was not put on the account. All done with charm...but not alacrity!
The room lacked any space to work (largeish dressing table but no desk, comfy chair but no desk chair) and was so poorly lit that I had to go to the bar to read some documents I needed to get through.
