Bring the scrum cap because this is a busy place!! We arrived at 5-15 and they had done 100 covers with another 100 to do! Beside that, the staff were busy little bees never seeming to catch their breath for a moment. Kudos to them, I kind of sensed they were a couple of hands shy. Having said that that is my only criticism. Oh other than we would have loved the window seat! What a view over the bay.
The food was top class for a Sunday sitting. My partners beetroot and goats cheese flavour did what it said on the tin! My ham hock flavoursome and needed more of it! The kids starters were woofed up! The main main had was the slow cooked beef with cep cream. Loved the sauce a deep mushroom flavour balanced out by the pepper in it. Would have loved a rich beef jus though to lift the slight dryness in the beef. But obviously personal to me. I would not be surprised after making a 100 of those mine was not at the top of it's game. The quality was there though.
Desserts were just had by a few, but all woofed down. The chef on talking to me at the table saw that my sorbet was melting so sent it back and replaced so it looked the business. I thought it tasted the business, the chocolate pave and raspberry sorbet lurvely!
Wine list was interesting and well priced, there was at least 6 wines I would have picked and been happy with. The Riesling we had for £21 was at least £7 below prices in Belfast.
We will be back!
Oh price, £16.95 for 3 courses billy bargain!!
