“blue view studios, a thomson resort, limineria, greek island”
Reviewed September 29, 2009

this is a modern hotel/studio complex at the far end of limineria town centre. this report is based on visit in sept. "09.

FOR. modern, very clean, lovely pool and close to the sea, not too far from the town centre, eighteen rooms all with balconies but the sea view ones are the best as they get the sun all day.

AGAINST. the self catering facilities are poor. there is a two ring stove ,kettle and fridge. i was expecting a toaster and micro wave but no. the tv in the rooms dont receive any english programmes, there is no phone, the air con. is controlled remotely, and the single beds are very hard .strangely, the shower hose has no holder for the head which makes things tricky! sometimes no hot water in the evenings. no entertainment, no pool table or anything similar.towels are changed every third day.
dont rent car from the company recommended by the reps, you can hire one half the price, same spec. in the town . (usually about 100 euros for four days ,all in) .
in my opinion, a week is enough for this island, you will run out of ideas after that, as there is no night life and teenagers will find it all boring. having said that, the scenery is wonderful marred only by greek untidiness and tourist litter at beauty spots. great beaches, some pebbly and some sandy around every corner. lots of stray cats everywhere, usually begging for food whilst you eat at outdoor restaurants. this could be upsetting for animal lovers. generally, eating out more expensive than spain.

Well... my boyfriend and I booked a last minute deal travelling to Thassos on the 31st May for 1 week. When we arrived at Kavala Airport we were greeted by Thomson's and shown to our coach, we were told to drop our luggage just outside and this will be delivered seperatly to our hotel.
We were transfered from the airport to the ferry port for a delightful 40 minute journey across to Thassos.
On our arrival to Thassos ferry port we were then transfered by coach to Blueview hotel.
We were met and greeted by the family who run Blueview, they showed us to our room, the view from our balcony was amazing. room 201 is definately a winner.
The location of the studios were great, close to the centre with a relaxing stroll in the evening.
Our package holiday was SC so we tried a lot of the tavernas and ordered fantastic food.
Lots of fresh fish and local greek cuisine, the cost as you can imagine is a little expensive now but we still managed a meal including starters, wine, main course and bottle of water for 26 euros. Most of the tavernas will serve the same dishes, and will greeted with an Ouzo, this was very tasty the greeks recommend drinking it with just ice and a dash of water!!!
During our week we did have a bit of rain, so we hired a car from Potos which is just opposite Super Market best, (5 mins walk from Blue View) we had a small car which included full insurance and 2 name drivers, the cost was "25 euros" for 1 day... bargain.
We drove up to Theologos which is a very pretty village, then we stopped of to view one of the many beautiful beaches. On our way back down the island we stopped of at Aliki, where we had something to eat and sat on the beach until 7pm.
We got back to the hotel just before 8pm, showered and joined in with the local bbq.
If you go to the bbq make sure you request your favourite dish, we were given a plate with squid which was delicious.
I feel the weather during the first week of June was just perfect, the heat was bearable, I will definately be going back to Thassos and the Blueview hopefully in september.
We thoroughly enjoyed both the island of Thassos and Blueview and we are sure you will too.

ps, we hope to meet our new friends when we return to Thassos

We stayed at the Blue View from the 3rd to the 10th May, the holiday was booked with Thomsons and was the first trip of the 2009 summer season.

The hotel is situated a 10 minute walk from the centre of town, and is situated in a wonderful position, the room balconies overlook the pool area, followed by a grassed area with sunshades, then the beach. The pool area is lovely, well maintained, with a large flower bed, BBQ, the grass neatly trimmed. Both pools are well maintained and a life ring is situated at the edge of the adult pool.

The hotel is spotless, the reception area is large, light and excellently decorated. Our room had twin beds, ample storage space and like the rest of the hotel was very clean. Fresh sheets were provided 3 times during the week, and fresh towels were available whenever required. In the kitchen area there is a full sized fridge, a two ring electric hob, a kettle, sink, and cupboard space. The kitchen items provided are basic, 2 small pans, frying pan, two mugs, a couple of glasses, knives, forks and spoons, adequate to make a snack, but not enough to make a full meal.

The bathroom had a toilet, shower and hand wash basin, the water was hot and plentiful. The shower curtain however was just about the most badly designed piece of equipment ever, and proved to be worse than useless, and an endless source of amusement with the guests. The bathroom however was just as clean as everywhere else.

We made our beds every morning, and each day the two ladies who did the rooms took them apart again, arranged sheets, blankets and nightwear into an array of different designs complemented on the second day by an artificial flower display.

We cannot comment on the quality of the hotel food as each day we ate at one of the many restaurants in town, however we did speak to guests who did eat there and they said the quality was very good.
The hotel is booked by Thomsons on a 'self catering' basis, should you want breakfast a full English is 6 Euros, and a Continental breakfast 5.50 Euros. Which over a 7 night stay adds an extra 42 Euros to the cost of the holiday.

The rooms are heated/cooled by an AC unit. The remote control for the unit is available from reception for 6 Euros a night, we did not need this service as at this time of the year the room did not get too hot, but I should imagine in the summer it is a must. This also adds an extra 42 Euros to the price of the holiday. The room safe is operated on a similar basis. These extra costs need to be considered before booking.

Each room had a TV and a radio, no Sky TV, but we found two of the Greek channels showing English language films (with Greek sub-titles).
There were two chairs and a table on the balcony, and each balcony has an hanging out area with pegs.

There is a building under construction one the next door but one plot, but the major work is completed and we were not disturbed at all.

The owners speak excellent English and are very welcoming. In the bar area next to the pool internet is available, and there is a large wide screen TV. This room seems to be the hub of family life in the hotel, and where Aris the dog is now sulking following his summer hair cut.

Several car hire companies operate in town, and Thomsons provide a door to door service with Europcar.

Our stay at the Blue View was lovely, and I would most certainly highly recommend it to anyone.
