We've been coming to this pub for many years as it is in a lovely position in the middle of a very rural Shropshire village and is delightful inside. They can get busy at the weekends but we were all a little disappointed by the food - the menu is maybe a bit too extensive and therefore the food doesn't have so much attention but the roast beef was rather tough and tasteless, the pheasant was a little dry and chewy and the duck a bit tough. The steak pie was good though and the garlic bread, the best ever. Will be back but may stick to the pies..

Lovely welcome , popped in while in the area geo caching, they do a great selection of veggie food including a veggie fish and chips, and a leak and cheese pie, great food, so good we came back the week after, 10 out of 10

Spent two enjoyable nights at the Crown. Room and bed were on the small size, the bed was neither a single or a double but comfortable enough for two average adults . The room was clean and the bedding crisp. The meals are basically pub grub but done to a very high standard, very good portions and competitively priced. Breakfast was good. The hosts are very friendly helpful. It is a busy pub and seems to attract the hunting and shooting fraternity which I personally don't have a problem with but if you had strong views on this sometimes emotive lifestyle this might not be the place for you. I personally would definitely return and can see why the place is generally well reviewed.

we were staying in Shropshire for a short break and the Crown had good reviews so we went there for Sunday lunch. This is a classic old english country local pub. The welcome was very friendly and we started with a pint of one of the local beers they serve - Three Tuns bitter. It was excellent. The food range was quite extensive with traditional Sunday lunch (beef or turkey), blackboard menu (famous for home made pies) and other interesting old favourites like meat pudding plus the standard table menu. The food was served with little wait and was excellent. Plenty of very lean meat, proper roast potatoes (not the usual apology of catering wholesaler part cooked and then warmed up resuting in no potatoe inside) and a selection of vegetables. Well worth a visit and suprisingly inexpensive.
