“Great evening in Astarea”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2012

We have been going to Astarea for the past 7 years and we have never had a bad experience. On the contrary the food is fantastic. Yesterday we had as a starter scallops and black risotto - both delicious, followed by sea bass. The food is excellent value.

“Good, but far from the best restaurants in Istria”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2012

Astarea is a nice family run "konoba" that offers very traditional seafood and meat dishes. Experience is nice, but during the high season you get the impression they are just taking on too much. Staff is overworked and can't handle the masses, meals are late or even worse early and the quality suffers. They have been doing a good job for a long time: good food, kind staff, traditional experience. But their competition isn't sleeping. They have a lot of work to do to keep up.

“Very good and recommended in off season”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2012

We went to this restaurant few times off season, it was very good, sea food was fresh and well prepared, try florentine steak, black risotto...
In July and August is too crowded so kitchen is not sufficient.
Prices are moderate, this restaurant is one of the best options in this area

“A simple must when in Brtonigla!”

Try the seafood and fish dishes! The wine is excellebt too, try a regional one. The owner and head-cook at the same time is a perfect gentleman. You´ll come back!

“not the place to go for tourists”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2011

we went here in august 2011. had a decent meal after a small chat with the owner about the possibilities that night. the bill was extraordinary, the maincourse happened to be 30 euro each!
locals seemed very happy with staff and bills....

if you are in brtonigla, go straight to san rocco. we went there also. seems more expensive than astarea, but is not. top cuisine and beautiful atmosphere and view.
