My girlfriend and stayed at Mimi's for 4 nights at the end of March, and absolutely loved our time there. Mimi's itself is exactly as described: a guest house (not a full service hotel), with clean, spacious, and well appointed rooms. We really enjoyed being able to cook our own food, both in our studio's kitchen and outside on Mimi's grill, surrounding by palm trees and tropical birds. A real highlight was grilling up some locally caught, wonderfully fresh dorado ($2 a pound!). David and Mark are perfect hosts.
The Guanica region itself is very nice, and very relaxing. It certainly moves at a different pace than the more touristy areas of San Juan. Mimi's is a short walk away from a number of amazing private (more or less; only the locals know of them) beaches, and a short drive away from even more wonderful beaches.
A day trip into San German is worth the short drive, as is taking a boat or a kayak out to Gilligan's Island to snorkel in the mangrove channels there.
