Marilyn and I have just returned from a weeks break at the Kalamota Island Resort on Kolocep Island Croatia, we just wanted to chill out and relax and what a great place to do just that. Location is fabulous, hotel very good and staff were excellent. Buffet restaurant was good with a varied choice of food on offer, there is also two A la Carte restaurants available also both were very nice and great attentive staff also. If you want a quiet break consider this venue.

Just returned from a weeks break in September 2019 at this lovely resort. Thanks to all the staff we had a great break. Food is excellent(with hot plates, a plus for us) everything was beautifully presented with a lot of variation.
Everything was kept very clean and umbrellas provided for the showers.
My only complaint is we paid extra for a room with limited sea view, a waste of money as all we had in front of our window was a very large tree, if it had been trimmed we could possibly have seen the sea!!!!
We are open to returning next year.
It was nice to see management eating with guests and also keeping an eye on maintaining the high standards.
Well done and Thank you all.
Regards
Denise and Ian

Visited 12th September 2019. This hotel is set in a really amazing location and on a beautiful island. The coach journey from Dubrovnik airport was half an hour and the ferry across to the island was another 40 mins. All the TUI travel arrangements worked well. Nice greeting upon arrival with a cold flannel and small alcoholic beverage.
The hotel is relatively small and easy to find your way around. Yes, there are a lot of steps, but the rooms being laid out as villas gives a pleasing overall appearance.
The hotel managed a burst water pipe pretty well during the first 24 hours of our arrival- it must have been a nightmare for them with the water being turned off for a period of time, although it didn’t really seem fitting to apologise by way of a bottle of wine and some biscuits when we were on an all inclusive deal! We had selected a ‘superior room’- there is a huge difference in the size and quality of each superior room. To cut a long story short, we were dissatisfied with the first room offered us (very tired and with broken furniture) and after a couple of days emailing/talking to hotel management and TUI reps, we were finally offered a much improved room with a large sea facing balcony. Thanks to Mario in particular for sorting us out, we really enjoyed our stay despite the rocky start.
The food is good- there is a huge choice to suit every taste. It would have been nice to have a little more attention from waiters to pour/top up drinks more frequently, and there were frequently long queues at the coffee machines at breakfast mainly due to the length of time it took the machines to make a coffee! The restaurant had themed nights- maybe worth putting in something black and white to wear- a gala dinner, international cuisine, fish night, and a Croatian evening. Twice during a weeks stay you can swap your eating venue to either of the two A la Carte restaurants nearby, both were really good.
The pool is clean and there seemed to be enough sun beds both around the pool and on the beach. Our disappointments were really with the bartenders in all the bars- although polite, it would have been nice to see a bit more friendly banter, vibrant cocktail making and use of fresh ingredients/ cocktail decoration as we have seen in previous TUI hotels. The mojito bar, for example, had a two story high row of ready prepared glasses containing mint. In fact they looked like a row of dirty glasses waiting to be washed up! Some nice fresh ingredients at the front of the bar would have been much more appealing.
The TUI staff did a great job with the low key entertainment of quizzes, and the live music on a couple of occasions was perfectly good.
Although we didn’t join in with any of the fitness regimes, the aqua aerobics was well attended, and a special mention must go to Harry (rep) and his aqua fun dance moves- do not miss this!
We went on an organised kayak trip around the island. Never having kayaked before, the guide went at the slowest persons pace, but 10k is still a long way. You can take phones, cameras and dry clothing which is kept in a dry bag. We got quite wet while in the kayaks, so I would advise wearing swim wear as opposed to shorts with a t-shirt under your life jacket, and also beach shoes. Do take a packed lunch from the hotel as the one restaurant we stopped at on the way round was completely full. We did get a drink from a neighbouring bar. Worth a swim into the blue cave too.
We also hired a jet ski for an hour- a bit of an extravagance at 120€ but great fun. In an hour, we went all the way round the island and still had time for more swimming.
There are several excursions offered into and around Dubrovnik. I don’t think you would want to go very often as it took an hour by boat to get to the old town, but definitely worth a visit.
Although the sea was clear and there were grey/black fish around, there wasn’t much coloured marine life to see when snorkelling off the beach.
There is one shop, not well stocked, and a gift shop, both only taking kuna as currency. You really need to take with you plenty of anti mosquito cream too (shops on island don’t sell it) as mosquitos are prevalent.
Despite a rocky start, we had an amazing and restful holiday in a beautiful location. We plan to return to Croatia next year, maybe island hopping so as not to feel completely cut off from civilisation- but then that is the entire point of this location.
Just a little bit of upgrading and finesse needed to move this hotel forward from a good TUI 3 star.

Myself and my partner visited this hotel at the end of July. We arrived to a thunderstorm and the staff handled this well, handing out umbrella’s and towels. The journey from the boat to the hotel was quite scary due to the storm but rep Liz was so lovely and kept everyone calm and happy as we could be on a turbulent journey!

The island itself is so lovely and we felt the room in the hotel was well furnished, however the bathroom could do with a bit of an upgrade. The mini- fridge was stocked everyday with fresh water, Fanta and cocoa cola to our delight!

You had to get up quite early to get a sun bed, especially the ones near the pool but this wasn’t too much of an issue. The food was varied and warm and was up to a good standard. The bars did not have a menu so cocktail wise you just had to name what cocktails you would like and then the bar staff would say if they could make it or not. Apart from a few staff members the rest did not engage and did not seem interested in talking at all or even smiling, particularly the bar staff.

The rep liz was brilliant, Harry seemed at times hostile and borderline rude and the other female rep did not engage with us or anyone we saw and she was constantly on her phone. One morning I said good morning and got ignored as she was too busy texting!

Dubrovnik itself is beautiful and worth a visit however you have to really organise your days and the ferry only came 3 times a day and at very awkward times, I feel there needs to be more ferry or a shuttle that operates more regularly and by talking to others this seemed an issue as well!

Absolutely beautiful
a place to come and unwind and enjoy the surroundings. The sensimar Kalamota hotel is a little gem tucked away on a little island of its own the only way to get there and see Dubrovnik is by a ferry crossing it’s a lovely trip with the sea breeze cooling you down. All the staff were amazing and could not be more friendly and helpful. My wife and I came here with two other family members and we all agreed that this place is one of the most beautiful and memorable places we have had the pleasure to visit and would absolutely recommend from the brilliant choice of food to how clean and tidy it was kept.
