It is hard to believe that a few short years ago the sea rose up and swallowed this side of the Samoan Island tearing apart blissful lives. And then to add insult a tropical cyclone ripped the island apart leaving great damage everywhere.
Yet, despite all that today this lovely little resort sparkles and the people who run it, who serve in its restaurants and clean the rooms all do so with a smile on their faces and a sparkle in their eyes.
I have been to all the islands of the Pacific. I haven't been anywhere where I felt the dignity and humour of the people so strongly expressed as here.
It is truly a special place.

Room Tip: Sinalei doesn't take kids under 12 - a big part of its attraction.

My husband & I spent 7 days at the Sinalei resort mid June. It was the first time either of us had been to Samoa & chose both the location & the resort solely off our travel agents recommendations. We paid extra to have a beachside Fale & loved it. The rooms are simple, but comfortable & very clean and after speaking with other people we met in Samoa who were staying elsewhere & spending a bit of time in Apia, I believe we made the right choice with Sinalei. The staff are exceptional, they make you feel at ease & do their utmost to ensure you are happy at all times. We even went with some of the young guys ( Luma, Faatasi, Iaafeta & Malafono (hope I got those right) )to their village to watch them play Sevens one afternoon. This was an awesome experience & these boys, even outside of work, were attentive to us & our needs the entire time, we couldnt have asked for more. We met so many special people amongst the staff including Fa'a, who is one of the most beautiful ladies I have met, and the gorgeous Sila, who sadly passed away not long after we left, we feel priveledged to have met Sila & enjoyed his humour & his company, he certainly was a special man.
The food, as others have mentioned is delicious, the chefs are remarkable and I couldnt thank them enough, although portion size is certainly smaller than what we are used to here in NZ. We especially enjoyed the BBQ & thought the Fiafia night was spectacular.
We were a little dissapointed in the beach as we were expecting white sand leading into blue water as shown on all the pictures we saw before our trip including Sinaleis own brochure, not the coral & rocks that were really there, a wee bit of false advertising really.
However we made the most of it regardless & spent hours snorkelling & kayaking and swimming with Lincoln (the resort Dog) who fell in love with my husband.
We hired a car for a day & went out exploring places for ourselves which I would totally recommend as you can feel a little trapped with Sinalei being so far from everything. We really just went everywhere the tours take you, but at our own pace & in our own company, which worked for us.
We had so much fun with all the staff ( there are way too many favourites to mention them all by name) they really made our trip enjoyable but to be honest we found management (except Natasha, who we got on really well with) a little fake and felt they only seemed to be concerned with getting us to review them here on tripadvisor. (Which we would have done anyway)
I would certainly recommend Sinalei as it is a beautiful, clean & extremely friendly resort & despite a couple of minor niggles we absolutely loved our stay.

Room Tip: Didnt see inside any of the other rooms, but we loved our beachside fale, perfect for a couples getaway.

We ( Aunt neice and daughter) spent a wonderful 3 nights at Sinalei after 4 nights in Apia. This was a great way for a first time in Samoa. It enabled us to sightsee easier around Upolu and Savaii and then completely relax at the gorgeous Sinalei.( However, you certainly can do tours from Sinalei). The warm and friendly staff make Sinalei so special. The restaurant and bar and spa added to the beauty of the resort. We booked a meals package and this was very good value. The fish meals and cocktails stood out, as well as the Fiafia. It was so relaxing being lulled to sleep in our ocean view villa each night. Sinalei thanks for a marvellous winter break.

This is a jewel in the beautiful island of Upolu, Western Samoa. It is definitely worth the very long journey (for me from the UK). if you arrived stressed, you leave relaxed. The atmosphere welcomes you, everything is easy, well thought out. The food is fantastic and locally sourced, the pool is cool and inviting, there is a spa if you so desire. Afternoon tea is served to guests as a kind gesture. You don't feel under pressure to do anything and can truly relax and absorb the island atmosphere. it is superclean and the rooms are comforting and clean.

Room Tip: ask for a beach house facing the ocean

Our first six nights in Samoa were spent at Sinalei Resort and Spa .On waking the first morning we were delighted to see that the pool was a few steps from our garden villa number 10 .Our first impressions were of beautifully maintained gardens and surrounds, attractively landscaped with colourful tropical foliage.although the bar and dining room was also close by we were never troubled by noise.the following days were spent lounging by the gorgeous pool, being bought cocktails by the cheerful friendly staff and enjoying great food in the two dinning rooms. The staff were so friendly ( especially Luma) .The first morning was wet so my husband and I treated ourselves to an hour of massage down at the spa fales. What a great way to start relaxing..... Bliss.Later In the week we went out fishing on the resort's 35ft Fish the Dream boat. The two crew were very experienced and soon had us reeling in Mahi Mahi and skip jack tuna.We were sad to leave as Sinalei has a relaxed comfortable feel about it and the staff and Soce, the manager,go out of their way to ensure you have an enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Garden view fales number 10 11 and 12 are close to pool, bar and dining areas and do have a view of the ocean..The new beachside fales are gorgeous and right on the beach.
