Back again for 9 nights at our favourite holiday destination ;0).
Certainly no Greek crisis in Katelios !!
Thanks again Sakis, Spiros & family for a lovely stay, Korina's breakfast is extensive with her own home grown fruit dishes are particularly tasty !.
Had Lunch at poolside and have to say Korina's salads are the freshest and tastiest anywhere !! Told myself I was going to avoid the more ish bread this year but could not resist, again !! ;0/
The lovely rooms are cleaned daily and the huge pool is kept spotlessly clean by Spiros and his father Micheal.
Favourite tavernas jerry elinko but Captain Jerrys was our no 1 with the huge seabass special at €16 inclusive of greek salad & 1/2 litre house wine !! a favourite.
New addition to the hotel this year is a lovely freindly kitten, (Shame one of the family's staying whilst we were there let their 3 sons constantly torment and be cruel to it !!!)
Katelios is a quiet fishing village so don't expect loud music bars but it has a dozen or more lovely tavernas a great beach & Kamina beach ( where the loggerhead turtles nest ) 5 mins in car round the corner is great for family's as it is really shallow safe water.
No ATM as mentioned before but I would advise taking a travelex Pre paid euro curency card as we do. You can use it in all the tavernas and shops as you would use switch back here.
See you next year !!
bye bye για τώρα

We had a wonderful 2 week stay at the Doumas hotel. The family that run it are really lovely and really looked after us. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was really really good. If there was anything you wanted that was not on the menu, they would get for you. It was actually our favourite eating place. The rooms were very nice, clean and spacious. The pool was a perfect temperature. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and hope to go back soon.

The Pacifae Golden Village is a family run hotel, hence the welcome was warm and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. The set up is perfect, with a large, clean, not too cold pool and an eating area/ bar within a few steps. The rooms are clean and bright, with a large fridge (air con is extra). Spiros and Sakis were lovely and nothing was too much trouble for them. Corrina is an excellent cook, we ate an evening meal at the hotel towards the end of our week and wished we'd eaten there more often as her cooking definitely rivals the local restaurants.
Katelios is a beutiful resort, very clean and unspoilt. There a dozen or so restaurants down on the shoreline, which is about a 15 minute walk (downhill). No nightclubs or loud music.
Kefalonia is a beautiful island, very easy to drive around and has many places to visit.
Greece is operating as normal, we didn't have any problems with cash machines, credit cards or large bank notes - all warnings we were given before we left. All in all a superb place to stay and would recommend to anybody who is looking for a relaxing holiday, we will return

Stayed in July 12 in a suite for 4. Room was lovely, daily cleaning, spa bath and a great pool. Only niggles were a couple of maintenance issues in the bathroom ( side fell off bath and drain in floor cracked) but these were repaired immediately without us having to ask. It is about a 20 minute walk to the beach, which would normally be Ok, but the heat was nearly 40 degrees so we struggled to do this during the day. Easy walk in the evening down to excellent tavernas and we had a car so we could explore the nearby beaches. Breakfast was good and varied, staff all lovely. We travelled with children and there weren't many other children around and some of the other guests didn't seem to tolerant of all the jumping in and out of the pool, but maybe there are more families during English school holidays.

My partner and I had 2 weeks here for our "honeymoon". 1 Week was with 5 friends and 1 week as a couple (1st July - 15th July)
As soon as we arrived the Doumas Family welcomed us like old friends and we immediatley felt at home
We were staying on Bed and Breakfast basis and the rooms , recently refurbished , were of exactly standard. Large clean bathroom and modern comfortable furniture. The pool area is EXCELLENT and still has one of the largest and best pools in Kelios. The pool is always kept clean and the new Parasols fitted during our stay added a great feel and much needed shade to the main relaxing area of the complex.
Breakfast was great. All the usuals i.e bacon , egg etc as well as some suprising and delightful extra's made by Corrina. These included french toast with honey !! and little fritters and the best orange cake ever. Spiros and Sakis will always ensure items are replenished ASAP ie Coffee etc so there is never a shortage.
Corrina and the brothers Sakis and Spiros also provide an excellent lunch and evening meal menu. Both are of excellent value and quality. Can recommend , for lunch , the Riganada (a kind of greek Bruchetta) , Chicken ceasar and chef salads are so tasty. For evening the Souvlaki (Greek Kebabs) are wonderful and cooked fantistcally by the King of the grill Spiros
As already said the whole doumas family and VERY friendly and Sakis and Spiros have put in a lot of effort learning english and whilst not intrusive will always chat to guests and offer assistance. They will also listen to and action to any concerns a guest has promptly and efficiently.
On more general notes Kefalonia and particularly Ketelios is a location for those seeking a relaxing holiday a world away from the hustle and bustle of England and the more commercialised feel of many other resorts. You really can switch off and I can say with much authority that one visit will not be enough and you will want to visit again.
It is a great place to explore yourself by car , even with the greek roads !! as the views from the often high mountain roads are stunning. You can also experiance travel by bus , check times though , and even water taxi from places like Scala and Poros. All are of exceptional value.
The reason my partnerand I came to Kefalonia and particularly the Pacifae was that we have been before and it is our "special place" The last time we visited was 3 years ago and Kefalonia , Ketelios ,The Pacifae and especially the Doumas Family have made sure it it has reamained so.

Thank you to Sakis, Spiros, Corrina and Michael Doumas for a brilliant two weeks at the Pacifae. We arrived on the 26th. June 2012 and were immediately impressed with the welcome, and the pleasant room overlooking one of the best pools I have seen or swam in, beautifully cleaned and maintained by Michael.
Breakfast each day was good, and the bar always available for a refreshing beer after relaxing by the pool.
Not far down the road to the sea front are 6 or 7 tavernas which offer grilled fish and other delicious Greek food.
Very nice indeed.

Firstly Thank you so much to the Doumas Family and all the guest that stayed at the Pacifae Golden Village Hotel between the 5 July- 12 July 2012 - NEVER have I been to a more friendly, relaxing and comfortable hotel. We booked through telly text on the 4th July at 11am and left for holiday 3am on the 5th. No transfers, we got a taxi at the airport found the hotel no problem under the new name (take the old one just in case) cost 45euros each way which is more than fine for the distance. We had a lovely taxi driver. Met by Sakis straight away and shown to our lovely room!

I can't understand anyone that complains about this Hotel and comments that they wouldn't stay again - personally I think they are trying to keep people away to preserve paradise. The Greek way of life is laid back and calm, the family have spent time to learn the English language and make an effort to get to know you, without intruding on your relaxation time to much as you are on holiday. What more would you want?!

Honestly I am possibly the most critical hotel finder ever and I was over the moon with our holiday, if you are looking to do not a lot and relax (which I think are what holidays are about!) then please go stay at this hotel you won't be disappointed. We spent the whole week by the poolside went down to the water front to eat most nights (15 min walk tops) most restaurants are down there but it’s an easy walk and go at your own pace if it's hot - think of it as the Katelios Gym. If you’re feeling lazy and can't be bothered to go too far for dinner then there are two of the best restaurants in Katelios (possibly Kefalonia) on your doorstep of the Hotel anyway - and the Hotel will actually cook for you too which is also brilliant food! Don’t worry you won't go hungry! Food is really cheap you can eat out for an average 25-30euros a couple, can be even less! Lunch is 10-15euros a couple roughly? We went B&B - I would love to comment on breakfast but we only made it twice, HaHa due to laziness and a late night!

We didn’t rent a car but friends we met did, okay Greek roads are CRAZY but you'll soon fit into it! We are going to rent a car next time as we want to see all the beauties of the island - there is loads to do if that's what your after however we just wanted to recuperate. You can get boat taxis, boat trips to the north, buses (although they only come every now and then) or jump in a taxi! All this can be arranged from the little town of Katelios.

So if your umin and ahhin - JUST GO! Stay at Pacifae and relax, or pay for me to go as I can't wait to get back there!

A Very Happy, Kate and James. :)
