“Stylish Hotel”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

We stayed at the hotel at the beginning of October and was very pleased with our room and the facilities on site. My only critisism is that the pool/bar area has very little atmosphere. I think you would call the area minimalistic, but although exceptionally clean I felt it looked a little bland.

As other gusets have found, the breakfast is the same every morning and no fresh fruit salad, only tinned peaches, although this probably the same for any Greek B&B. We did book for the 'Greek evening' and this was only just OK so wouldn't recommend.

The hotel is a pleasant 15min walk to the restaurants and bars on the sea front, and the ones I would recommend are: Captain Jerry's for seafood and Maria's for inexpensive, typically Greek food. Dreams is also recommended, a bit like a 'Shirley Valentine' moment - a little walk form the main area, views to the sea and very good food. Also, we had a couple of lovely meals at Persa's.

I would recommend this hotel for it's attractiveness and cleanliness, but wouldn't necessary stay again myself.

Room Tip: All the rooms are decorated beautifully and even the ones facing the road were quiet.

Recently returned from 11 night stay at the Magnolia & although the hotel is very modern & clean, the food left a lot to be desired. Stayed on half board basis which means to me I've already paid for my breakfast & dinner. Breakfast was the same thing every morning, no variation whatsoever. Think the hotel must have acquired a "job lot" of tinned peaches! Fresh fruit nowhere to be seen-unless you want to pay 2 euros 50 extra every morning-I don't think so! Half board dinner menu pathetic. Management admitted they'd had problems with lack of choice so allowed us option of couple of things from a la carte menu. All very well if they have what you order & don't come out with feeble excuse that as it's near the end of season "we're not making so much." Vegetables with your dinner were as elusive as the fresh fruit at breakfast - non existent! I don't expect to have to pay an extra 1 euro 50 for bread with my dinner or another 1 euro 50 for a scoop of ice cream with my dessert either! This is unlike any other 4* star hotel I have ever stayed in. It advertises "tea & coffee making facilities" in your room too. We had 1 tea bag on arrival ( minus the milk) & you never see another tea bag. The small bottles of complimentary toiletries are never replaced either, so make sure you take your own, not like another guest we spoke to who had been relying on them. Then there's the hotel "rule book". No running anywhere on the complex or in your room, no horseplay & no other persons allowed in your room after 10pm other than the people that room is assigned to. So if you invite friends back they have to be out by 10pm! What is this - a hotel or a boarding school? There are other rules by the way, like "no cooking in your room." How on earth are you supposed to do that? Buy a little calor gas cooker I guess......Mmm now that's an idea considering their food options!lol I wouldn't say I'm hard to please, don't really like complaining about things but I've never had an experience like this in any other 4* star hotel & you'd have to pay ME to go back.

My wife and I have just returned from a great holiday at the magnificent Magnolia hotel. We are seasoned travellers and always expect very high standards. Ecktor and family did everything possible to ensure that we were not disappointed and together with all their staff and friendly demeanour were all superb. We opted for a superior room which offered a great panoramic view from our balcony and little extras such as fresh fruit ,bottled water, towelling robe, slippers and clean towels daily were most welcome. We went on three guided tours accompanied by an excellent informative guide called Mel. We enjoyed meals in both the restaurant and the excellent taverna Persus opposite the hotel. We met some lovely people who helped us enjoy our holiday. We are both looking forward to returning to the wonderful Magnolia hotel and seeing the genial Ecktor and his hospitable family next year. Thanks again for a great holiday.Roger and Christine .

We arrived at about 10pm at the hotel, a very impressive entrance. Ecktor took us to our room which was great, spotlessly clean and large. Having not eaten since we had left home we went down to the resteraunt for some food, I had stifado and my partner went for the fish dish both were very good. The following morning at breakfast I personally found plenty of choice and in the two weeks we were there I had no complaints. The staff were always interested and helpful if you needed anything. The pool was large with lots of sunbeds and parasols again the area was very clean and well looked after, as was the rest of the hotel.
Ecktor, Nota and Alex, work hard at looking after the guests and there hotel, we have been going to Greece for 28 years and this hotel is the best we have ever stayed in we had a great holiday. Many thanks to the Magnolia.

Room Tip: A room faceing the hill behind the hotel was quiet and peaceful.

Returned 5th October after 12 day stay. The hotel is new ,nicely decorated and the rooms were lovely. BUT be warned the food arrangement here for half board guests is appalling and the " "Continental Breakfast" for all was limited and mundane nothing changed from day to day and we were disgusted at how little there was to choose from compared to other 4 star hotels in Europe. I would recommend a phone call to the hotel before arriving to make sure what is on offer is acceptable to you. One guest dared to ask for a fried egg for a change and was told to ask at reception! while others asked for some fresh fruit and had to pay extra!
The evening menu's were a shambles the half board guests had their own menu consisting of only a couple of choices which was only shown to us once one morning by the Hotel staff after we had complained the evening before about the lack of choice. We were never shown this at any meal times. The rest was very basic with no veg or sides unless you paid extra (that's if they had it) with Greek salad as an only choice of starter. We did not see any fresh produce of that nature the whole duration of our holiday We were told there had been complaints about the set up so the management allowed us to choose a couple of dishes from the A La Carte menu which were very basic and rarely available. We asked if we could have a meal from the pricier A La Carte meals and pay extra to equal the cost, but were told were told we would have to pay the whole amount! which is grossly unfair after having already paid for meals within your holiday package. The whole thing became such hassle and petty we ate out for the remaining 9 days and indeed had wonderful meals in local tavernas. Fresh fruit, vegetables. and bread were readily available everywhere at no extra charge. There were many other unhappy fellow guests regarding the meals and in particular the breakfast. Indeed most half board guests were eating out in the evenings. The management were aware of their guests dissatisfaction but did nothing improve things. Definitely poor value for money in our view.
The Island is beautiful and the trips out were well done and professionally carried, out but would
mention the buses to other parts of the Island ceased on Oct 1st meaning because of the location of the hotel a hired car would be essential. The beach is nice and the Greek owners of the Tavernas running along the back were great fun and such nice people, they certainly go the extra mile to make you extremely welcome. Take a walk down the beach to DREAMS tavern owned by Christine and her lovely Greek husband, the food is amazing and all home cooked with a wide choice, very very popular with holiday makers and rightly so.
In our opinion the Magnolia Beach Resort is best suited to room only guests.

Great welcome on arrival after a delayed flight, late at night. Looked forward to our breakfast as it was too late to eat that night. We went to look at the buffet, asked where the fresh fruit was and were told we could have a dish of fresh fruit for a supplement of €2.50 per day! Very disappointed at that but as that is our normal breakfast we bit the bullet and coughed up! We thought we would try the restaurant one evening but that was also poor. The rest of our stay was fine.

Not a lot more can be said - the hotel is amazing. Rooms are immaculate, grounds, pool and all communal areas the same. Staff are very helpful and friendly and really care about their guests. Food in the restaurant is excellent. Breakfast is more than adequate. Altogether we had a really relaxing holiday in a fabulous hotel in a beautiful resort. A visit to both is highly recommended.

Room Tip: Higher Floors are superior and deluxe. Extras are fruit every day, small wine on arrival and dress...
