Reviewed September 27, 2013

best hotel of all the islands BUT am i allowed to say h/board means you have to pay for your bread at the table and if you want ice cream with your apple pie you have to pay extra for that as well wotta cheek if you ask me when we mention it the owner said we're not arguing about a bit of bread are we YEH! i've already paid for it !!!H/board is not good... the breakfast is 2 * the minimal selection something is always off so B/B recomended otherwise v/good and your not allowed to smoke on the premises rule book stuff but everyone does der!!!and your being watched all the time by the owners incase you break their silly rules Hectors wife s a bit of a jobs worth you can change the towel they give you but not if there wet Eh!! you dont get a replacement of shampoo so take your own and you dont get tea bags replaced either lovely apartment very well designed even though its built backwards .Won't be going back ....the pool is so quiet its morgue like so will suit + 60's i am 62 and felt i was at a respite home lol still it is earthquake proof ,they have loads of them and ur wi-fi don't work in ur room ,appy days another report from ur well travelled m8 Gusman

We can only agree with everyone else on the good reviews. But would like to say what lovely staff they have, we loved Mary and Helen? (The lady that served the breakfast) and the guys in the evening. It would be nice that Hectors parents would not speak down to them in front of patrons even if it is in Greek you can still feel an atmosphere! Having said that we would recommend and return. The restaurants in the village are just lovely, we loved the LIghthouse, and the 2 next to it, all served lovely seafood platters around €29 for 2 with greek salad and wine, wasn't impressed with Captain Jerrys food portions small. The sun beds to the left of the beach €6 for 2 for the day, sea temperature was great in September, go for a walk just left of the Magnolia we picked pomegranates lemons and figs which were just delicious , also visit the little old school with theTurtle project. We flew from Bristol airport and have to say it was great, no queuing at check-in or customs!!! And return flight was just as good. Kefalonia is a lovely Island to visit will return asap.

Room Tip: All rooms are good.

There is nothing that can be said that hasn't been already been trumpeted about this gem of a hotel. We read the reviews before we arrived and it didn't dissappoint. Any criticisms would be nit-picking. From arrival on our first night on 8th Sept to our departure 11 nights later we were well looked after by Ektor and Co.

The resort was also as expected and if it's a quiet and relaxing break you are after come to Katelios and stay at the Magnolia. Its about a10 minute brisk walk from the beach area where most of the Taverna's are and which all do reasonably priced meals and very cheap house wine by the litre or half litre. We like our red wine and experimented with a couple of different bottles on our first two nights and to be honest we were not too enamoured by it. We then tried house red at one of the taverna's and at a cost of about 7 or 8 Euros per litre and never looked back and probably saved ourself about 80 or 90 Euro's over the course of our holiday.

Our most freqented Taverna was Jerry's Ellinko which was half way between the Hotel and Beach. Service and staff are first Class, Also tried Persa's( close to hotel), Katelios Taverna, Dreams, Captain Jerry's, Maria's and Blue Sea. Also tried the Rosebud Bistro (at the Magnolia) which was very nice too. We like the experience of eating out every night otherwise we may have ate at the Rosebud more often.

Thanks to All

We have just returned after our third stay at this great hotel and that alone speaks for itself. It is very comfortable, clean etc. and all those sort of things that you always need and want but what makes it really special are the people who look after you. Everybody from the owners to the room maids do all they can to make your holiday special. As far as we're concerned it's in the perfect location in a flat valley surrounded by hills so if you like to walk you can. Its quiet at the hotel as is the resort which is peaceful and unspoilt with just enough Tavernas and bars without being to crowded. Believe all the good reviews of the hotel you read and ignore those very very few poor ones as I believe they say more about the reviewers than the hotel.

Just returned from without doubt, the nicest, most relaxed two week holiday ever - anywhere, any time. If you want to holiday on a beautiful Greek island in an hotel which has the finest management team (Alex, Nota and Ecktor), complete with superb bar, restaurant and cleaning staff then this is the place to go to. That it is a Skytours holiday and not a Thomson one and therefore not featured by Thomson as a 'premier hotel' or 'small and friendly' hotel is a travesty of justice and should be corrected immediately. We'll be back. Monty & Clare, Room 316 . . . .

Room Tip: No need, all are excellent . . .

Just back from 2 weeks in Heaven, Cannot find any faults with our experience from start to finish. We were met by Hector at reception who took us to our room showing us everything we needed to know i.e. air con, safe, electric shutter and electronic door locks. Hector is the son of the owners who all three made our stay one to remember they could not do enough for you. All the staff were great also making sure you felt on holiday by doing all they could to make your stay one to remember. Everywhere was spotless the pool was checked to make sure the right amount of chemicals were in so pool was clear as a bell. The food at the Bistro was delicious especially the Ribeye Steak, we tried eating outside the hotel a few times the food was reasonable but we started eating at Bistro every night. A BIG THANKYOU to all the staff but especially Hector and Mamma & Pappa for a wonderful stay and the little surprise when going home. From Trev & Sue in room 233

Room Tip: We stayed in a Premier room which meant we got a fruit basket every afternoon and plenty of teabags...

Just arrived back on 15th Sept after a weeks holiday at the Magnolia and we can only reiterate what other reviewers have siad - this hotel is superb. The best we have ever stayed at in Greece. It was everything we had hoped for and more.

Spotlessly clean everywhere and the owners and all staff are so friendly and helpful.

We truly hope to come back. As i said - you may arrive as a guest but you feel more of a friend as you leave.

We were in room 107 but all rooms i believe are to the same high standard.

Several great restaurants - our favorites were Captain Jerry's (the sea bass with greek salad and i/2 bot wine 12 euro's was out of this world) and Persas.

Would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Thank you to everyone who made our holiday a wonderful one and one to remember.
