“Wonderful family and a definate keeper”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

We have stayed in numerous accomodation in Katelios over the last 7 years, the Anastasia for us is a definate keeper! We had the best holiday ever here which was mostly due to the fantastc family that run the studios. Deena and her wonderful husband Angelos and son Cristos welcomed us into their family. She brought us gifts of fresh eggs from the family small holding, homemade Baklava, Mousaka and lots of other delicious things. Deena and Angelos speak little English (but more than we speak Greek!) We were put to shame by Cristos (12) who spoke perfect English. the studios are peaceful and extremely clean, Deena changed the beds more often than any other accomodation we have stayed in. bins emptied everyday, the place was spotless. if you have stayed in studios in Greece before, you will know they are basic, but we had the best cooking utensils we ever had! (not that we did any) we had sharp knives, bottle opener, decent pans a chopping board and even a cheese grater! shower had great water pressure and was always plenty of hot water and...shower curtain reached the floor! for the 1st time ever staying in Katelios we had water in the fridge for our arrival, honey, jam, butter, tea and coffee. location for us was great! about 15 mins walk to the sea downhill, about 20 mins back uphill. supermarket 5 mins walk away as was the 1st pool you can use. Persas taverna (which was wonderful was just 5 mins away. we spent many times with the family, chatting and laughing with the other guests who had returned to Anastasia many times. if you go to these studios ensure you are friendly to this wonderful family and you will get it back ten fold. views to the sea and Zakynthos on the 1st floor were fantastic and you can also watch the sheep and chickens in the small holding. (never woke us up early) We will definately return to Anastasia and to be honest i would be very dissapointed if we couldnt get in there. we have finally found an accomodation in Katelios that we will keep. PS, Air conditioning was the best ever and also the cheapest!

We booked to stay at the Anastasia as part of a package holiday with Thomson. It was very reasonably priced and was advertised as a basic accommodation however that is what we were looking for and we weren’t disappointed.

The studios are located about 30 minutes drive from the airport on a quiet road at the top of the resort of Katelios. The hills surround one side of the apartments with the coast to the other side. There is a small super market just over 5 minutes walk down from the apartment along with Persas Taverna and Jerry Elenikos Taverna (best food here!) another 5 minutes walk down the road. The beach and main cluster of beachside taverna’s are about a 15 – 20 minute walk down a gentle slope. The walk can be very hot with limited shade for the walk in hot weather but it is still an easy walk and no one we spoke to had any problems walking it.
On arrival we were greeted by the owner who helped us with our luggage to our room and as we were staying for our honeymoon she had put a bottle of cava and some strawberries to chill in the fridge which was a lovely surprise. Throughout our stay the owners were also incredibly friendly and even bought us some fresh watermelon that they had harvested from their garden one evening.

We stayed in room 5 which is on the first floor with beautiful views from the balcony down to the sea. The studios are basic with a small shower room – always plenty of hot water but not that we needed it in July! The balcony was a good size with a table and two chairs to relax on and also a clothes line to dry off towels and swimwear. The studio itself had a small kitchen with a sink and electric hob. The fridge was more than enough for two and there was enough cooking equipment to make good meal. We also had a kettle and toaster so no complaints! There were a table and chairs inside too along with a wardrobe and a desk. The rooms are of a standard size but everything fit in nicely and it was very clean. There was a fan to use and air con is available for a cost of 4 Euro a day. It was almost 40 degrees however we opted to just use the fan and we were happy with this. It was nice to know the air con was there just in case though as everyone’s heat tolerance is different!

Katelios is a small resort with about a dozen tavernas to choose from on the beach and a couple of snack bars, and also a cocktails bar called Music. It is ideal for those wanting peace and quiet away from it all. We stayed during July and always found sun loungers available and the crowds were never too much. The Anastasia Studios complement the resort perfectly as you get a warm, hospitable stay in basic but comfortable surroundings. We would recommend renting a car for at least part of the stay as there is so much more to see of Kefalonia and although Katelios is fantastic there are so many other deserted beaches and beautiful scenery to see. The studios have plenty of free parking and car hire is well priced from Venus – a 5 minute walk away on the way to the super market. We would definitely recommend the Anastasia Studios for a trip to Kefalonia!

Just back from Anastasia Katelios. If you don't mind walking this is the place to be. Owner couldn't do enough for us, provided lots of extras including food & drink left in room on arrival. Very peaceful & quiet setting looking out over olive groves one side & mountains the other.Kettle, toaster & shower curtain in studio. Ample wardrobe space etc, Large balcony. Would return anytime.

Room Tip: first floor also have sea views.

We were here from 6-13th May, the start of the season.

If you are looking for a basic no frills accommodation in a quiet location, this is for you.

About 1.5km to the beach and restaurants which is an easy 20mins stroll. There are two supermarkets on the way. There are another two scenic routes to the beach and restaurants and if you are feeling energetic it will take you about 30mins.

Deana and her family are very friendly and hospitable. She gave us fresh eggs and fruit a couple of times in the week that we stayed. The rooms were clean and Deana came in every day to make the beds and empty the rubbish.

This accommodation does not have a swimming pool but as we booked with Thomsons we were allowed to use the facilities at the Magnolia Hotel which is about a 5-10min walk away.

Katelios is a small Greek village with about a dozen restaurants to choose from and a gift shop.

We recommend that you hire a car and see the rest of the island, especially Argostoli, Lixouri. Sami, Poros and Assos.

I was living here one week in August 2011. We took with my friend somekind of " cheap last chance" charter from Finnmatkat company Finland and travelled to Kefallonia.
The company booked us there.

Our first reaction was something about like " what a h...." . Looked like we were middle of nothing in place called Katelios and got a hotelroom in August without any air conditioning. Neighborrooms there was at least somekind of "propeller" at ceiling but in our room not even that.

So night´s were really a LOT of too warm to sleep and if you tried to sleep doors open you were afterwards quite eated by the mosquitos. Otherwise room was quite okey and they cleaned it everyday.

There is one minimarket close to hotel and in Katelios village there is lot of pool´s which are free for everyone. Quite good anf cheap breakfast you can find for example from Jerry´s Elleniko Restaurant. It´s about 500 m away from hotel.

Hotel´s owner couple is absolutely one of the most friendly Greek couple that i have ever met. So ten points to them. They resque a lot. Allmost everyday they bring you something tastefull from the garden or from the grill. They advice you and try to do everything they can.

But still...? Do I live there again?
Have to say that in August when there so hot to sleep i really doubt it...

Anastasia studios may be one of the most basic in the Thomson Kefalonia brochure so we did not expect 5-star luxury and we were more than happy with the standard of the accommodation. We even had a proper kettle - a first for us in Greece! Our apartment was on the first floor, the balcony had lovely views over olive trees and sheep grazing, you could see the see and you can even see Zakinthos in the distance! We were not overlooked by any other apartments so it felt quite private. There is no pool at Anastasia but as in any Greek Island, you are welcome to use any of the pools nearby and there are 3 or 4 to choose from.
Takes about 15 minutes to walk to the sea on a gently sloping road, there are various shops and restaurants dotted along the way. The beach at Katelios is clean and unspoilt and it is also quite easy to walk along the goat track to Mounda.
The main attraction for these apartments is that they are run by the most charming Greek lady called Dina, who is maybe the only person on Kefalonia that doesn't speak English! She is very welcoming and kept leaving is little presents... Eggs, the most beautiful tomatoes, whatever was ripe and plentiful in the garden!
Eating out at Jerry’s Eliniko was amazing, or there are the fish restaurants on the beach. There is a minimarket and bakery, again within 5 minutes walk.
We had seen Katelios described as an overflow for Skala, but Skala has little charm or character compared to unspoilt Katelios and should attract a completely different type of tourist. There always seem to be a lot of Greeks on the beach so that must mean something positive!

Room Tip: Great views from the 1st floor, wouldn't see the sea from the ground level

Really liked these studios. Yes they are basic but spotlessly clean
Deina , the owner was friendly and kind. her small holding is in front of the rooms. Your alarm
call is one of her cock's crowing or the sound of goat bells as her livestock graze nearby.
Returning one afternoon, she had left half a dozen free range eggs in the room
The studios are situated in Ano Katelios, a 15 minute downhill walk to the beach.
That for me was a bonus as there was no noise at night. A supermarket and bakery are just down the road, as is Persa's restaurant..
If you want a traditional Greek experience in an almost semi-rural location
then I can recommend these studios
