“Beautiful stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2013 via mobile

I stayed at French island Eco inn with a couple of friend in February 2013. We had a great time in this beautiful place surrended by nature. Everything was perfect and Phil made our stay even more special. He was extremely helpful and even organized a boat for us to go back.

Our goal was to recapture the spirit of the Phillip Island that we knew as children 50 years ago. Not only was this goal delivered but we made a discovery: French Island has her own voice.
So much bushland and such solitude. It is place of natural beauty, beaches and bushland completely free of litter. Birds and the wind in the tea tree singing to us whenever we went exploring. There are no telegraph poles, no power lines and no bitumen. It is a cleansing and nourishing environment.

We kicked the holiday off with a guided tour by Lois Airs - kindly organised by the always helpful Phil. This gave us a great overview and we then explored various features up close - on bike or foot. We combined adventure activity - riding our bikes to the beaches, through the coastal heathland, and into the National Park - with cosy fireside evenings and delightful food. I took long runs then returned to a hot shower and perfect meals delivered by the delightful staff and by Phil personally who is a gracious and thoughtful host My husband made real progress with his novel and screen play. He said he had never found a better environment to keep his writing moving.

We are planning a return trip and we will do some further exploration of beaches and the National Park. Jack will very likely finish his current writing project here - so as long as he gets back from bike rides and beach walks!

Thank you Phil..

Anne and Jack

I'm 20 years old and I was invited to my boyfriends nans 70th birthday held here as a murder mystery dinner that Phil the host of Eco Inn set up for ran the whole night.
About 15 people attended and it was super fun! we all dressed up as witches and wizards and the set up and overall dinner was definately a mystery! The bar was definately our favourite aspect of the weekend as the drinks and prices were something you could never get here in melbourne!
Overall highly reccommended for all ages and birthday celebrations!
Something different thats for sure!

Early March this year a woman friend and myself cycled two peninsulas and ferried across two bays, from Geelong to French Island. By email we had useful information about the French Island Eco Inn, including an offer to meet and greet, by Phil who owns and runs this extraordinary otherworldly place.

It was unusually hot and humid for March, but after settling in, we set off to cycle and explore the island along Tankerton Road. Gracious Phil said to call if we got into trouble. I did, a pinch flat tyre, on the dusty, corrugated, loose rock and gravel road in 47°c heat. Too bleak and hot to change it roadside. I called, he came! So generous!

We were the only guests at the time and a fully set table with wine glasses and cloth was carried out onto the verandah at dinner time. It was still hot so this was perfect, eating under nature's natural lighting. Simply wonderful!

THIS is the kind of personal attention you get while staying there thanks to Phil and his crew. The room was comfortable and the main bar/eating area was filled with welcoming sofas and seats, inside and on the verandah. It did have me wondering if I had wandered onto a film set...a sense of time standing still.

Phil's Eco inn made our long weekend at French Island comfortable, relaxing and good fun. Highlights were having a few well deserved beers on a balcony with a gorgeous view, after a long walk or ride in the national park, watching Sam the dog point out the koalas to visitors and Phil's always friendly demeanor (even with a toothache).

Above all the cozy, warm inn made a lovely change to our tent and we were happy to eat all of our meals there to soak up the country house feel. The food was amazing! Local meat and healthy, fresh vegies cooked french style...what more could you want. And everything was affordable, from the camping to the bar to the food. Where else could you get an excellent steak for under $20?

Although surrounded by stunning national park, it was Phil's inn that made the trip memorable. Thanks to Phil and his amazing French Chefs for a great Easter weekend!

Room Tip: A lot of good space for camping, but can be quite windy.

Our long weekend at the Eco Inn was wonderful thanks to the owner Phil who is super friendly, helped us in any way he could and made sure we are well entertained while on the Island.
I would also highly recommend to have your meals at the inn as they were just delicious! a big thank you to Louise and Adrien who helped Phil in the kitchen for the amazing food (the vegetarian lasagna was exceptional!).
