“From Alba to Cogne for Sunday lunch”
Reviewed November 25, 2011

A restaurant-owner friend told us about Lou's. Because of his great enthusiasm for the menu we decided to make the 3 hour trip. Part of the payoff is to see the region of Aosta
and the Parco Nazionale Gran Paradiso. It is aptly named and Cogne is right in the middle of it. We were greeted with considerable warmth as the anomalous Americans They knew we had come all the way from Alba and appreciated that. We ordered a lot of food just to give the menu a full turn. I can't remember all that we had except that all was excellent, well served in a restaurant packed with Sunday diners. It was a lark that turned out really well..

“Classy, regional food”
Reviewed October 19, 2011

Lou Bequet was recommended to us by one of the owners of Lou Ressignon as we were there when they would be closed for one night (only every 45 days). It is the village next to Cogne, approx. 15 mins and with a bit of walk along the provincial highway (she kindly lent us a flashlight to make ourselves seen and made us a reservation, needed!) Good food, tortelloni's to die for (made fresh in house of course), extensive wine list (mostly local wines), my husband had pasta squares with cantharelles. Only the owner spoke English, but with French you come a long way. Espresso is cafe doppio. We had the table at the corner with incredible view on the mountains. Quaint decoration (witches of all sorts). But again: GOOD FOOD yummy! It's in the mountains and it was cold (10 degrees), so some people were dressed up, others weren't.
