I went with my wife in December of 2012. The exterior of the guest-house was better-looking than its interior. I wish hot water were more available. Food and service--both were moderate. I didn't expect any better than what I got. Overall, money is well spent.

My trip to Shantiniketan was spoiled due to my stay in this useless guest house. Had visited this place in Dec last year and despite letting them know of family size, room preferences, ill health of my mother, we were initially offered the most dingy room. The argument started from there. Then came the rudest shock, the food which was prepared in the morning and was stone cold by 2 pm was served to us without even re heating. When we asked them to warm it up they said we can go to some other place for food although they had already taken money for food as well. Microwave apparently was not working and I have no clue how in today's highly connected tech savvy world the microwave cannot be repaired during 3 days of the stay. Right from the owner, the staff everyone is rude, arrogant and ill mannered. They were in cloud nine since it was peak season time least bothered about guests comfort.
I have seen the owner jump in and blame every time any reviewer criticises his " resort". In whole India I haven't come across a place wherein staff asks people to leave from the dinner table when people are hungry and longing for food. My diabetic mother became more ill post this trip. Pls do yourself a favour, stay away. I have put many other reviews in the same site and you can trust that this is not a bit of exaggeration, you will repent every bit of your holiday if you check in with them during peak season.

Room Tip: Stay away.

She along with her parents came to our guest house in last week of December 2012 without advance booking though he was told repeatedly over phone to make online transfer of the full amount to our bank account as she is staying in Bangalore as told by her over the telephonic conversation but deliberately she didn't comply with. Moreover, without advance payment she directly came to our guesthouse for accommodation and requesting us to provide room to them. During Pous Mela and in entire December and January, we generally don't entertain our guests without advance booking due to heavy rush but as she came with her aged parents, we tried to accommodate her and provided her a 3 bedded room in the annexed portion and told her to vacate it next day as it is booked from the next day by some other guests and she agreed but with our utter surprise she started misbehavior with our staff intentionally and started disobeying the rules and regulations of our guest house. We generally serve food within stipulated time period in dining hall but she denied to comply with any of our system and asked to serve food in her room at mid-night, which our staff denied and she became furious and started using abusing languages to our staff but we sticked to our policy and told her to take food in our dining hall, which perhaps she didn't like and next day she refused to vacate the room and finding no other alternative, for having a peaceful atmosphere, we allowed her to stay in the same room for another 2 days. But on check-out day, she again refused to pay the rent of 3 bedded room for 3 nights as during the time of process of inquiry she was told by our staff the rate of double bedded room as she told for reserving a 2 bedded room. We never came across such a situation before and was thinking to call police to vacate the room. During the process of calling the police, she vacated the room and went away without informing to us.
Not all but few people forget that ours is a guest house not a hotel and we got certain limitation in respect of our timings and services but after check-in they started to get every thing they used to get in hotels, which we never provide.
We humbly request every one, please, book our guest house after knowing the terms and conditions as given in our website and facebook pages.

RTDR is located at a place that soothes your frayed nerves if you happen to be from the city. The guesthouse itself is beautifully maintained. Our two-day stay in mid-April was a memorable one, particularly because we had access to the balcony (go for a room on the first floor) and the food was excellent, though a bit expensive. A perfect getaway to unwind yourself and get recharged for the busy schedule ahead. Helpful people. However, the breakfast could be served a little early (we were given at 11 am, which is a bit late for breakfast as we had to leave for station at 11.30 am). Would definitely like to visit again.

I visited this place in beginning of March. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and kept well. We four of us shared a room and the room given was ample for all of us. Loved their garden and the beautiful flowers they have grown. Food was also good, your customized requests are also taken care mostly.

Though the book keeping is still with pen and paper. I would suggest get some modernization in that department. Also create a small reception area for guests who come and visit them.

Overall a good experience. Would surely visit again and recommend others.

Room Tip: please mention the number of people you are travelling before you book a room.

Expected a lot given the reviews of Trip Ad visor... But was a big let down.. Visited on 29th March 2013 ..The upstairs rooms were very small ... Rooms were not cleaned everyday... The service was also not upto the mark... The only high point was the food which was actually good...

The person concern was adviced not to book Room No.6 as it is meant for only 2 adults and very particularly for a young couple but at the time of booking he insisted our staff that though he is having a very young child with him, it would not be problem for him. Moreover he insisted to have drinks in the porch, which is prohibited and he along with others started shouting in the midnight, which our staff objected and it perhaps generated dissatisfaction. Any how, we are not going to yield to any pressure and we are committed to serve our guests as we are doing at present. Our motto "Athithi Devo Bhavo".

Situated on a quiet and beautiful stretch of road, away from the main area, its a quiet, beautifully ornamented and gardened place, with all the facilities one could possibly need or wish for. Shantineketan is a marvelous place, away from the hustle of the city, and very refreshing. And the Poush Mela and Basanta Utssab are the key attractions of Shantiniketan, steeped in culture and tradition. I had the privilege of visiting during Basanta Utssab which always coincides with Holi. Needless to say, my time there was far more delightful than I anticipated and a major part of it is thanks to the hospitality and comfort of this place, i chose to stay in. The staff are courteous and the food is really great, though it sticks to bengali cuisine, am sure there can be no complains about it.
