Visited there for breakfast with 4 friends. Good Service. Would like to try to stay there next time but this location is not easy to find. But they keep this place very clean, nice ambiance. Nice garden, kept well, well taken care of. They need to do a PR job for this place, very hidden.

Room Tip: No idea about rooms.

This place is away from the Viswabharati campus and is ideally meant for boarders who have their own means of transportation. The staffs are welcoming and it's good that thet have fooding arrangement. Although there's nothing to complain about this place, I'm likely not to stay here again for its location.

Our group happened upon this place while out riding bicycles. Off the beaten path, but charming, clean and reasonably priced. Someone obviously cares about the place and takes great care to keep it fresh, clean and tended. Super cute gardens with social spaces for hanging out. Even a tree swing! Yes we had a baby frog in the bathroom but he was both adorable and efficient at gobbling mosquitos. Dinner was fantastic. Not a single complaint from 6 people.

I have stayed in many mediocre to downright horrid guest houses in india and this one was a breath of fresh country air.

Located next to the deer park in Shantiniketan, Park Guest House is a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. Located around nice green belt, the hotel may not be the best built or have too much space inside, but the warm and friendly staff and great food make up for that.
The rooms are decent and clean. the Bengali food is excellent but the No 1 item is the "chicken roast" cooked in the traditional Anglo-Indian style. Will advise a visit for the food even if you dont want to stay there.

Had heard a positive reviews about the hotel on this website and went ahead to book the same by paying an advance. However, on reaching Shantiniketan, we realized that this hotel is far away from the hub area. On reaching the place, we could barely find any Indian tourists (non-Indians would have landed up the same way as we did in the hotel). As they showed us our room, we found cockroaches and frogs outside the place ! The hotel staff said they could do nothing about the area had lots of trees ! The room was okay but the ambience, location and staff response was pathetic !! Worse than everything else, the staff refused to return the advance when we decided not to stay in this hotel....

To all tourists: We easily found many good hotels in the hub area of Shantiniketan. The best way to find a great hotel here is to hop across for hardly half n hour. Do not ever pay any advance.

We really enjoyed this place for many reasons, including the price -- $17 a night at the height of the tourist season in January. But be forewarned: these are the hardest beds outside sleeping on the ice in Antarctica. Really. We had a thin (2-inch) cotton mattress on a bed of poured concrete. I am not kidding. It was a foot-tall poured concrete slab with a 2-inch cotton mattress on top. We had bruises on our elbows and hips every morning. Bring an air mattress. But this appears to be the standard for the area. Luxurious, even, from what we saw of other places tourists stayed. Otherwise, the place was fantastic. The village is very rural and isolated, so it's a much different vibe than the cities. The village is dominated by the college and the legacy of Tagore and to a lesser extent Amartya Sen. (Improbably, this village has produced two Nobel Prize winners.) Rent bikes to get around, and don't be afraid to go off the main roads (there are two) onto the one-track dirt lanes, especially the one that goes around the pond. Check out the people doing their laundry on the rocks in the pond. The staff at Park Guest House are wonderful, very accommodating, good humored, very helpful in every way, though with limited English. The food is excellent. Follow the staff's tips each day. The common area is very nice, from the main dining porch to the picnic tables to the little gazebo. Good outings, besides the Tagore Museum, including the Amar Kutir rural crafts area, where you can get tremendous bargains on some very nice clothes, home furnishings and leather goods. The hotel will rent you a bike, but don't accept one of the bikes that the staff rides to and from. Demand that they rent something better for you. Their bikes are crappy. Another outing is the farm where you can eat lunch. The staff will know the name and how to arrange a car there. The rooms off the main dining/lobby porch can be very noisy, especially at breakfast -- the staff starts cooking at 6am and it seems like they are at the foot of your bed -- and sometimes at night if guests arrive late and want dinner. Upstairs rooms might be better, especially in the other building next to the lightly traveled dirt road. Bring earplugs along with the air mattress. No wifi, no Internet. We used a little Internet cafe in Ratan Pollis, a dirt path crossroads a few minutes away by bike.

A lovely place to stay if you are in Santiniketan. It will seem just like home, with all homely comforts. I never felt that I was staying in a hotel! The garden is lovely and they have used recycled little bits to make lovely artistic creations on the walls of the garden. The bathroom is painted and you do feel you have arrived at Tagore's birthplace, once you enter the hotel.

Room Tip: Go for the renovated rooms.
