This 12th Century Inn is an absolutely beautiful find. The accommodation is very 'boutique' meaning you can trust the fact that although you are staying in a very very old building with a lot of history and original features, everything works! Such as the heating, the plumbing, the lighting, the comfort, the technology (TV/Radio) and the food is superb. For once, the place does exactly what it says on the tin - look at the website to see the accommodation in detail! I did not believe we would be getting what was promised and asked to see the room first. It is EXACTLY as described.

The staff are professional, friendly and approachable, nothing is too much trouble. These people know what they are doing as far as food, hospitality and B & B are concerned.

Room Tip: We had Room 5 as we wanted a bath as well as a shower but all of the rooms looked amazing.

We spent a great New Year 2012/13 at The Cott Inn. Lovely room, spotless, fabulous powerful shower and the comfiest bed I have ever slept in. Dinner was particularly good. A delicious three courses at a reasonable price with very tasty and creative cooking. Also portions were very good!

The Cott Inn itself is very pretty and inside it is the quintessential thatched country pub. However the best thing of all about the place is the people who work and drink there. We spent New Year's Eve there and there was a great band. It was packed with friendly and lively locals and a great time was had by all. Mark and his team are both friendly and highly professional and work tirelessly to make sure everyone is kept happy and have what they need. There are only 5 guest rooms ensuring that service is not spread too thinly amongst inn guests and pub patrons.

The room rate is possibly not the cheapest. However the owners have sensitively combined contemporary stylish comfort within an ancient traditional structure so,combined with the level of comfort and style room and service that you receive, it is worth it.

We were staying in Ashburton for the weekend and as all of the restaurants In the town were closed I looked on trip advisor and found this little gem.
A very pleasant member of staff answered the phone and reserved a table for us this was extended by the staff on arrival. We had a lovely roast dinner each and a lovely dessert with some live music as an added extra.
Overall it was a very enjoyable evening and would definitely recommend a visit to this quaint little pub in a beautiful part of Devon.
