“Hidden Treasure”
Reviewed July 4, 2013

Marvelous 3 day stay in Marazion at the Chymorvah. Rate, amenities, and hospitality suited our family "to a tee". The lovely, spacious garden with flower arbor and manicured lawn afforded our child an enchanted play land while we enjoyed the magnificent views of St. Michael's Mount. Our son had no difficulty strolling from the hotel to the pub, town and causeway and he wears leg braces. Our room (#7) was comfortable, clean, and quaint with a single, grand window overlooking the gardens and Mount-able to accommodate a family of four.

Service was superb and breakfast excellent-tailored to our appetites and timetable.

Owners approachable with stories of local history and information on local attractions.

Truly a "hidden treasure"- returning for a week next year to create holiday memories in traditional English style.

The Phillips Family-PA, USA

Room Tip: Entire hotel quiet and peaceful. Our view from room # 7 was breathtaking.

Please don't believe the cruel reviews that are out there. Lovely couple, sweet hearts and they will make you very welcome! Since when did having a belief system and values be such a bad thing in this post-modern world. I wish them every success! PEOPLE - stop being so cruel! There is enough in the world already!

We were looking for a nice quiet venue for a traditional cream tea away from the crazy crowds of St Ives so drove along the coast. We toyed with the idea of the car park cafe for St Michael's Mount ferry but with a parking fee and a chilly wind decided there must be somewhere off the beaten track. We noticed a sign for traditional cream teas not far out of Marazion at the Chymorvah Hotel, so drove down the incredibly steep hill to the car park. The building is old and interesting from the outside but much in need of some tender loving care to maintain its history.
Once inside we were surprised at how nice it is though there is some smell of damp and 'age'.
The welcome just for a cream tea was lovely, we were shown into a really lovely dining room laid out with pristine tablecloths and pretty china, and the views over the bay and St Michae'ls Mount were stunning. The atmosphere was really peaceful and we were invited to wait in the guest lounge while tea and scones were prepared.

Our pot of tea was everlasting and the scones very good, and after a hectic day just nice to enjoy the surroundings and antiques and conversation with the manager.

The cream tea in such lovely surroundings was no more than any cafe in the Cornwall at £10.50 for two with no hesitation to top up the tea pot.

What was so lovely was being invited to enjoy the grounds and garden before we left. It is such a pity, but the gardens which must have been spectacular in their heyday, going down the hill to the cliff edge, are quite run down and neglected, though there are signs that someone has started clearing and replanting. Once these gardens must have been a big plus for the hotel, with plenty of interest. The sign on the garden still indicates that you can access the private beach, however the staircase is closed off and dangerous and looks as if it could be tumbling down the cliff. There are signs of an old prom down there but it is inaccesible as is the beach. However, the view over to St Michael's Mount is spectacular and one of the best we have seen.

The only other room we saw was the ground floor bathroom. This was very big and clean and obviously used by residents. It was very outdated and like the rest of the bits of the hotel we saw as if time has stood still. I think with that bit of tender loving care the Hotel could return to its former glory, but for us was a very interesting and unexpected pleasure when we were just looking for a cream tea!

I've been staying at the Chymorvah for over 25 years. Always welcoming, hospitable, clean, friendly, and caring. They are always ready to do that bit extra to ensure you have a pleasent stay. Always good value for money and terrific views of the Mount, It is NOT a lot of the negative things said by a number of reviewers, who appear to have their own agenda. I am aware of the owners views and the campaign being waged against them. I am not a Christian, and they have never once tried to raise this subject with me. They have always made clear their views when promoting their facilities. They too have their rights .To those who may disagree, no-one compels you to stay under their roof.

We spent three nights in this lovely welcoming hotel, having booked in for two nights only and deciding to stay the extra night, before driving back to Suffolk the next day. We were looking for somewhere to stay in the village and saw this hotel when driving through. We had a lovely seaview room overlooking St Michael Mount. The owners were very friendly and welcoming; our room was very bright, clean and comfortable. We are hoping to visit this area again next spring, and would have no hesitation in staying here again. It is a good base for visiting Isles of Scilly and NT gardens etc.

Room Tip: A seaview room is the best.

My wife and I stayed here for a few days along with my parents. This is a lovely charming establishment and our experience was delightful. The staff are amongst the friendliest and most helpful. The rooms are very traditional and cosy ( and long may they stay that way) with adequate facilities, some with four post beds and some with excellent views overlooking the bay and St Michael's mount. Food was good and the premises were stunning, including the garden (with its pet rabbits and cats and chicken and ducks) leading right upto the waterfront. I thoroughly recommend it and would stay here again-already looking for my next possible trip.

Room Tip: Try and get a room with a sea view, although others are also good.
