“Good food, fantastic views...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2013

What a different experience from the review someone posted yesterday! Came upon Chapel Rock by accident, enjoyed an afternoon snack enough to come back for an evening meal.

Fantastic views from upstairs dining area over St.Michael's Mount, very clean promises, good food at reasonable prices with friendly service - well done! :-)

“Dirty tables and old clotted cream-no thanks!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2013 via mobile

Came here for some lunch before visiting St Michaels Mount. Sat down to a dirty table that hadnt been cleaned properly, decided to get a sandwich to take out instead. After ordering I saw a cream tea in the counter that was looking a little worse for wear-surely that would be something the staff would check seen as it is one of the first things potential customers will see?! Sandwich was nice enough but the cafe itself was not clean enough.
Would not recommend.

Hello zand thank you for taking the time to review our cafe, yes we remember. Let me put your mind at rest, you sat at a table that other customers had just left and it seems that the staff hadn't got there fast enough to clean it for you.
Alas we are beside the beach, so you can imagine what that can be like with all the foot traffic, as to the cream tea, I have to put my hands up there and now we only have the fresh baked scones for display, I thank you for that.
I am glad you enjoyed your sandwich and hope that we get the chance to serve you again.

“This cafe has not got it right”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2013

We had lunch in this cafe last week. I had a crab sandwich and my husband a pasty and chips. My sandwich came with a few nasty leaves that could not be described as salad. The crab had no seasoning or mayonnaise. The pasty came without chips and they arrived after he had finished the pasty. We found the tomatoe sauce and viniger on a table on the side . The service was very poor and it felt like the young waiter had had no training what so ever. In all a bad experience, food only just ok and very poor value.

“Disappointed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2013

We visited here whilst on holiday, great location with views of St Michaels Mount. Disappointed with the food we had for lunch. Crab sandwich came on big thick slices of bread (no butter!) and a few leaves - this is not a salad! Children's sandwich boxes were nothing special and overpriced with only one small sandwich, hula hoops, a small orange and a carton of juice - all for £3.50.
Our total bill for 2 adults and 2 children was over £35 which is expensive for lunch.

I wouldn't go back here if we were in the area again.

Thank you for taking the time to review our cafe, we are very sad that you had a disappointing time.

I think you may have been confused. We have two separate crab dishes on our menu, one is a crab sandwich and the other is a crab salad, both are priced differently. The crab sandwich comes on granary bread (as is traditional for crab) and is buttered there is a small garnish and a wedge of lemon. The salad is a large bowl of mixed salad and crab meat. As it was the sandwich that you ordered you would not have received a salad just a garnish.

We feel that our kids boxes are very good value for money. They are meant for the younger child and the sandwiches are made using the same quality ham and cheese that we use for our main menu dishes. We have children of our own and would find it very hard to find a restaurant (other than MacDonalds) that would provide a childs lunch box for less than this.
The prices are clearly stated in our outside/ inside menu and inside on the boards and crab is a premium product to have, if you can find it cheaper then it may pay to ask if it was frozen, we are supplied fresh picked crab every day.
If you are still in the area please pop in, we always strive to do better and can always cater for the bespoke customer.
