“Awesome food, nice atmosphere and good service.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2013

I really enjoyed the food here, good portions, and it tasted fresh. The garden was beautiful and the atmosphere of the pub was warm, friendly and relaxed.
I deinintly recommend this place to familys or people just wanting to chill in the evenings with a nice view.

“Absolutely awful”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2013

I really cannot understand how this place has rated so high. We went there last weekend and thought it would be nice to have a spot of lunch while enjoying the amazing view.

I had a ham and cheese ploughmans and my partner had a BLT.

The roll that came with the ploughmans tasted as if it has been frozen for way too long then baked and served - small portion of ham and cheese. Below average dish for something so easy.

The BLT was DREADFUL. they had used supermarket thin (it could have been medium but hey....) sliced brown bread, the bare minimum of bacon, lettuce and tomato. If you want to cut back on the bacon at least bulk it up with lettuce, mayo and tomato, for goodness sake, and the prices are not cheap.

The only saving grace was the salad garnish that came with both dishes - it was nice but there was no dressing.

For somewhere with such an amazing view to say it was under exploited is no exaggeration: the outside garden area was a tip. Cigarette ends everywhere, a ton bag containing goodness knows what in the corner, brambles, a falling down hedge .... need I say more.... a dumping area basically.

We wont be going back - such a waste - it could so easily be great.

“Decent enough place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2013

Having eaten at the other 2 pubs in Marazion last week we wanted to try TFE as some reports said how good it was. After a decent walk from the outskirts of the west end of the village we'd worked up an appetite getting there. We were glad that we'd booked a table otherwise we'd have been in for a long wait. The menu was typical British pub food but with fresh mussels available as both a starter and main course. All meals were priced above similarly available at Kings Arms though which didn't seem right as it was bar service rather than being waited on. I opted for the fish pie and my wife had the steak pie. Both had cheesy mash topping, lovely fresh veg to accompany, and both tasted great. My daughter went for the gammon but wanted egg instead of pineapple as per menu. This seemed a very tall order as the lady behind the bar didn't think the chef could do this! When you're paying £10 the least I expect is to be given such an option. When it came though it did have an egg, but the gammon itself was quite dry.
Downside - On a Friday night it seemed ridiculous only to have one person serving behind the bar. The poor lady was run off her feet trying to serve beer, change barrels, wait on tables, etc. Overpriced food, and £6.15 for a large glass of rose is taking the Mick!
Plus points - Fantastic view of the Mount; good choice of real ales; live music on Fridays

“Nice place to eat.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2013

The wife and me had to spend 4 days in Penzance to do some work with a group on a property, we stayed at a B@B in Marazion. Not realising The Fire Engine Inn was just a few yards further up the road from the b@b we ended up eating at other places first which we were mostly unimpressed with, One pub that was recommended was fully booked so The F.E inn was mentioned and certainly worth a try, up the hill on the right someone said, didn't say how far though lol. We walked up the hill which seemed to go on for ages, right past our B@B ha ha, should have drove up, still it made us thirsty and built up our appetites. Lovely pub with good mannered and friendly staff, the ale was good and cold, the food, we had a three course meal, was superb, piping hot and in good time, I as did the rest of the party enjoyed every bit of it.
I would definately recommend this pub to anyone and we will definately make a return visit when in the area.

“"A must to visit in Marazion"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2013

We had a two night stay in Marazion and found the Fire Engine Inn which was a real friendly & welcoming place. The food was lovely & the company excellent. Trevor & his staff made us feel extremely welcome. Our son, Thomas, got on well with one of the locals who was a carpenter and provided the entertainment on our first night, we never stopped laughing from entering to leaving. A visit to the Fire Engine Inn enhanced our visit to Marazion and all I can say, a must to visit!
