I've been to the Mount twice now and I enjoy it more with every visit. You can walk over when the tide is out or take a boat ride when the tide is in. The boatman let the kids steer the boat which really made their day.

The walk up to the castle is steep but that is only to be expected. The castle is absolutely stunning and enjoys amazing views over Penzance and Marazion. The staff all seem very friendly, a young man called Ewan was especially helpful giving us info about the causeway closing and getting boats off the island.

For anyone visiting Cornwall for the first time, St Michaels Mount should be the first place to visit on your list.

Had a great day and the kids loved walking through the water to get to this attraction. The tide as going out so we were able to walk both ways visited the tea shop while we were there for a quick cupper wasn't too expensive and the home mad food was good and would go again next time in cornwall

We walked acoss to the Mount but had to get the ferry back when the tide came in, that was fun and only £2 each. Interesting visit and worth the walk. Again great views.

Visited St Michaels Mount today. Its a tiny island with a huge castle. You can get to it by boat £2 per person each way or you can wait for the tide to go out and walk over. It costs £8 each to look around the castle but it has to be the best one, in terms of restoration I have been in. It is very hilly up to castle but the vies of Penzance gorgeous beaches and clear water are amazing. You can also get food and drinks here. Brilliant. If you are ever in the area try and visit. You won't be disappointed. The queen stayed here in May 2013. Only 30 people live here but don't want to spoil your visit by telling you all.

Even seeing the Mount from the mainland is impressive, we've been many times as there is a nice walkway along the beach plus cafes and The Godolphi Arms - our new must-go!
Walking across the causeway is the best. Beware the cobbled surface is very uneven and the walk up to the castle is not easy because of the steep slope coupled with the cobbles. Not a problem if you're fit enough and you are wearing suitable footwear. It just would not be the same if it were all smooth paving or tarmac! Lovely cream teas and ice creams, very tempting giftware in the shops - you have been warned!
