This small family run hotel is a haven of peace yet is only twenty minutes from the bustle of Carcassonne. It is located high in the tiny village of Aragon and the rooms and terraces look south towards the Pyrennes.
As at many of the best small hotels in France the husband cooks and the wife looks after the front of house.
The hotel was only recently converted from the bergerie after which it is named and this reflects both in the Bedrooms and the public areas. The bedrooms are spacious and all have direct access to terrace or garden.Bathrooms are not large but are well equiped.
The small pool area is clean and well maintained and has a high level of child safety measures. It's location guarantees that it gets the sun for most of the day.
The location of the hotel means that there is almost no passing traffic so quietness is guaranteed.
The restaurant is very pleasant and the food is excellent. Fabien Gilbert makes the best of local ingredients such as lamb and pigeon and the menu at €33 contained all sorts of interesting and unusual dishes. ( Try the roast figs with goat cheese icecream! ).
Cyclists are particularly catered for with a room to store or repair their bikes.
Excellent value for money both as a hotel and a restaurant.
