“perfect location amazing food”
Reviewed May 9, 2010

The hotel is in a superb location at the heart of the the lovely village of grassington. The room we stayed in (no 4) was beautiful with lots of attention to detail. The service was second to none. the food was absolutely out of this world. We will be heading back there in 2011 to celebrate our next wedding anniversary!

Grassington is a wonderful location, a real gem, especially as we had fantastic weather.
Grassington House Hotel was a fantastic find, I almost hate to give it such a great review incase it gets too busy for us to get in when we want to return, and believe me, we will go back! We were made to feel very welcome, I loved the home made buiscuits and cafetier coffee in the room. We had the White Room which is a standard room but so clean, fresh, cosy and welcoming (more a pale pink than white), couldn't fault it at all.
The whole hotel was just great, and the food was so, so good. I had the best belly pork and crackling ever! The owners were helpfull and friendly, can't wait to go back for longer next time. We even thought that what we paid it was good value for money, so all in all 10/10 a must to visit!

By the time you have read the early part of this review you will have the suspicion that its written by a friend or relative. This is not the case it is based on our 4 day stay in April. The hotel is a solidly built with yorkshire stone and is situated right in the heart of Grassington. It has a restaurant and bar which are also open to the public. A complete refurbishment has taken place over the last 2 years and is of a high standard with attractive decoration.
Dealing first with the cuisine the breakfast was waited service and there were no little packets of this and that - everything being fresh. Orange juice was freshly squeezed, the bacon tasted as one was accustommed to many years ago, the sausage was firm and delicious, the mushrooms full of flavour and the egg bright yellow . Have you despaired of the strips of leather that masquerade as toast well here its crisp and varied.
Dinner (as breakfast) was served in the warm reds decorated restaurant and had continuous background music mainly Matt Munroe. The chef owner left to start on his own plus wife after being jointly involved in a Michelin star restaurant. If quality of cuisine were the only criterion to qualify for Michelin recognition then this hotel would qualify with ease. One was consistently surprised by nuance of the flavours that were employed in every constituent of every meal - even the humble potato did not escape the magic spell. Do try the sticky toffee pudding it is delicious and light as air. Two or three nights a week dinner is a gourmet meal at a ridiculously low price. The wine list was reasonably priced. As for the service it was exemplary , the staff obviously trained to standard considerably higher than you would expect in a four star hotel. At just the right speed efficient, courteous and with a pleasant attitude.
All bedrooms were tastefuly decorated. We had The Cottage Room a medium size and a generously sized retro styled bathroom. If you like to have a nap during the day this room had the disadvantages of being above the kitchen (extractor fan) and next to office (telephone). At night you can retire to a comfy bed in silence The best room is The Square spacious and elegant.

Stayed for 2 Nights in Room 10. This really is a lovely room - very light due to 2 large windows, and with a view straight down onto the Grassington village square (or triangle to be more accurate).
Food was excellent, great choice, the best ingredients, substantial helpings and beautifully cooked and presented. Glad we went for the half board option which allows you free choice (up to £29.50 per head) from the a la carte menu. I have to say that we hadn't eaten that well for a long time, altho' you need to make sure you have left enough room to do it justice! Breakfast was first class. Home made Granola and Bircher Muesli followed by a cooked breakfast including bacon and sausage from their own pigs.
We loved it so much that we are treating our daughter and son-in-law to a trip in April, Our other daughter/son-in-law will go later in the year, and our son as soon as he finds a good woman.

The purpose of our visit was a relaxing couple of days away together, leaving the children with Grandma and Grandad. The hotel stands in the beautiful village square in Grassington and we were welcomed by the owner Sue, who is lovely, and shown to the "Red Room" complete with free standing bath actually in the room - absolute heaven!! It is beautifully designed with everything you could want - thick, fluffy towels and bathrobes - even fresh milk and delicious homemade cookies! The room was spotless and the bed was very, very comfortable. We ate each night in the restaurant and the food is amongst the best we have ever had - very fresh and beautifully presented. The breakfast was equally lovely with a great selection and bacon and sausages from the owners own pigs! The staff at the hotel were very polite, friendly and helpful and are a credit to the hotel, nothing was too much trouble. We shall certainly be going back and trying one of the other rooms as they are all individually designed and all look super. It was lovely going for a long walk around the area - stopping off at a few pubs on the way - and coming back to such a gorgeous hotel. A big thank you to everyone involved.
