This so called 4 star B & B does not live up to it's claims. On arrival we were presented with the keys and told we would not see the hostess again until 8.30 for breakfast. The slot for breakfast was only thirty minutes. Although the website claims the use of a library for guests this was not made available to us. We then discovered that there was no heating in the bedroom. There was no welcoming tray of tea (as is often presented in North Yorks B & Bs)The room tray only had tea and coffee. The breakfast was very limited especially if choosing not to have the cooked breakfast. There was no self service - I was presented with a tiny bowl of cereal (a child's bowl).
The hostess was most unfriendly and cold in her attitude and reminded us about four or five times to hand in the keys. She seemed to be obsessed about that!!
This B & B is claiming to be 4 Star but does not seem to have the accreditation from any appropriate or official body. This claim needs to be checked out!!!!

Although this place is not top notch compared to some places, it is good value and priced accordingly. A traditional B&B. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and have everything you need. I found the hostess very helpful and friendly so can't understand the previous comments. The breakfast is excellent and plenty of it, however I do prefer to select my cereals from a buffet style but its not a complaint just a preference. Its in a great location and would definitely return. Great base for exploring

Highly recomend to anyone visiting the area for hiking, sightseeing, fishing or for just getting away to relax. Agnes & Edward go above and beyond to make your stay a very pleasurable experience and the hugh breakfast will prepare you for the day ahead.

Room Tip: Rooms are big, airy and have great views.

We have just returned from New Laithe House. The room was clean although we had to ask for another set of towels as there was only sufficent for one guest. The room was cold when we arived at 2:30pm. Our room was near the noisy central heating boiler and the room walls were so thin you can hear other guests including their 'toilet activities'. Not the most pleasant of experiences!!!!! Plenty of parking and very close to the centre of the village. However, the Landlady did not always present a welcoming and warm approach to her guests. She appeared obsessed with the handing back of the room keys and made little if any effort towards small talk or conversation. The breakfast was very contrived as was the 'strict' seating arrangements. The choice of cereals and condiments were limited although that said, the cooked breakfast itself was nice. All in all, not a B&B representative of a four star award and certainly not value for money at £75.00 per double room per night. Shop around!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have just returned from a lovely relaxing trip to Grassington. Our stay at New Laithe House was faultless. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. The room was nice and spacious and very clean. The owners are very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was tasty and plentiful. This is our third visit as a couple to Grassington and our first stay at New Laithe House and it was by far our best choice of accommodation and definitely where we will still on our next visit. We can guarantee you will not be disappointed, whether you are staying as a couple or with children.
