We visited during a tour of Scotland, and it was the highlight of the tour. When we looked at the time on the way home, we realised we had spent over three hours being treated to four courses, plus coffee, in what felt like an hour at most. Throughout the evening we were given an enthusiastic and knowledgeable explanation of the food that was, by and large, sourced within viewing distance of the table. For the price, this food was amazing - fresh lobster caught an hour or so earlier being a highlight, but every course was delicious and perfectly prepared. Meall Mo Chridhe is a beautifully furnished building - we enjoyed canapés in lounge area, before moving to the dining room for the starter, main and cheese selection, before back to a warm fire in the lounge for coffees and chocolate coated strawberries. Really can't stress enough how good this place is - I would happily have paid double the price of the meal.

We had a wonderful time at Meall Mo Chridhe. Dave, Stella and their family gave us a warm welcome from the moment we arrived to the final goodbyes three days later ( Dave - that map of Ardnamurchan you kindly lent us is in the post!). The house itself is lovely - beautifully decorated to a high standard. Warm and cosy. Beautiful views across the sound of Mull - even from our large roll top bath.
Stella's cooking was superb. Really good - with much of what we ate locally sourced - even down to Dave pointing out the red fishing boat in the bay which had supplied our langoustines (piled high on the plate and served with homegrown buttered new potatoes and salad -yum) Dinners stretched late into the evening - if you like to eat early (say before 8.30/9pm) you may want to let them know. We went mid June so it was still only dusk when we enjoyed our tiffin and coffee at 10.30pm.
West Ardnamurchan is a beautiful spot - and Meall Mo Chridhe is in a perfect location for exploring. After days of exploring pristine white sand beaches, watching seals and dolphins play just offshore and enjoying the wild beauty of the landscape it was a real treat to come back each evening to a bath with possibly the best view in Scotland, excellent food and a beautiful, comfortable home B&B

From the Corran ferry a challenging 45 mile drive along mostly single track road is required to reach remote Kilchoan. But the views of Mull and Skye, and the beautifully furnished former manse make it worthwhile. Quiet Stella is responsible for the inspired interior decor and excellent cuisine while ebullient David is the entrepreneur behind the business, runs the 20 acre small holding, applies for grants, is a part time fireman, and entertains visitors with tales of this surprisingly cosmopolitan community. Dinner was postponed to 8 pm at the cook's request, but did not start until an hour later and proceeded slowly until 11pm - rather late for travellers exhausted by a long journey. The accommodation bill came as an unpleasant surprise, even for an upmarket B&B, since at no point had iit been made clear that the prices quoted were per person, and not per room as is the norm for B&Bs. Beach walks and the sound of cuckoos and oyster catchers were some consolation, but for the money a complimentary aperitif and wine with the meal would have been appreciated .

As a frequent visitor to Ardnamurchan I am at a loss to understand why it took me until last June to discover the Meall Mo Chridhe.
David and Stella have created an outstanding restaurant,a true dining experience in warm and friendly surroundings. I will be phoning for a reservation when I return in June.

Congratulations to David and Stella who have laboured hard to set up this beautiful home in Kilchoan. Their style as hosts during our stay for 2 nights came straight from the heart be it the fresh flowers everywhere, the warm fire in the living and dining areas every evening or the welcome tray of tea outside the door every morning. Meals at their place were a delight that we looked forward to with a lot of the ingredients sourced fresh from their land. We especially enjoyed the tour of the smallholding, astonishingly versatile in its produce, and walked away with our own little goody bag of newly harvested vegetables.

David and Stella, thank you very much for your warmth and hospitality - we will remember our stay in Meall Mo Chridhe for a long time to come.
