We ate here twice on a recent visit to Bangkok, once for lunch and once for dinner. We took the river ferry to Nontaburi pier and caught a taxi from there. On both occasions we were lucky enough to have a great table right next to the river and had a wonderful time. At lunchtime there is more going on to watch on the river and the views are lovely; in the evening the restaurant is very atmospheric as it's set over different levels with good lighting and looks so romantic and cosy. The food is realty excellent and the prices are extremely reasonable. We will definitely return.

River Tree House is a lovely restaurant next to the Chao Phraya River with good service. The food is slightly above average. Everything is cooked correctly but lacks anything to differentiate this restaurant from 100 others in proximity. In fairness, I would say that the variety of dishes available is well above average thus it works well for medium to large groups. Everyone can find something to enjoy. We had 8 or 10 different dishes. My favorite was a 'fusion' kind of appetizer - crispy wontons with spinach and cheese. These were quite delightful; crispy with just the right amount of spinach and cheese. For our second appetizer, we had larb moo tod (spicy pork cakes on the menu) which were fine but not special. The rest of dinner was also fine but not special. There is only one draft beer available in only a large size - Hoegarden. In fairness, I have lived in Thailand for 10 years and have a Thai wife so my standards may be a bit higher than most. But I do recommend this place overall. In summary - food average; ambience and service very good!!

This restaurant is set in an absolute beautifull location at the Chao Phraya River in Nothaburi (outside Bangkok). The restaurant is decorated with luxurious plants, wooden tables and chairs. This is really worth the visit. Food is very good with reasonable prices. Parking is at the tempel nearby, free tuktuk ride to the entrance of the restaurant.

Driving out of Bangkok and into Nonthaburi can be a little far. But it is worth it! This hidden restaurant is on the riverside north of Bangkok, down from a small village. You know this will be a local type of place as soon as you turn off the main road, park near the temple. Taking the small motor bike taxi, or walking down the small lane - you arrive at a small parking lot with one of the small kitchens bar-b-queing whatever seafood is fresh that day. Walk down past a couple private rooms and the river suddenly appears. Outdoor seating, partially covered.

Rustic, traditional - good taste with a view. Seems each time I've eaten here, some seafood item runs out. I think that's their plan - don't over stock and let the quality decline... keep it fresh and make us want more!

Fair prices, especially for the view - wish this place would remain hidden.

Ask for a table by the river for best view.

Fabulous setting with luxurious plants and unique old Thai house on the river. Wonderfully pleasant, with unusual access that you'd think would be inconvenient but isn't. Every dish is incrediable.... some of the best Thai food you can find anywhere. Excellent selection of drinks and beer. Reasonable prices. The only area for improvement seems to be the staff, which has a tendency to be forgetful and lacking a bit in friendliness. Overall, though, a fantastic dining experience!
